  • Tahiti Mana Troupe Dancers present this ‘Ōteʻa inspired by a combination of the contemporary idea of Meherio, mermaids, as well as by ancient stories in French Polynesia of women who would travel from beneath the sea through tunnels in the coral. They could survive on both land and under water. They had long hair, long nails and ate raw fish.
They were alluring, mysterious and empowered.
