Marcia Rodd was on a bunch of shows in the 70s... She appeared twice or three times in "All In The Family" as Mike's ex, and she was the original Carol on spinoff "Maude", replaced by Adrienne Barbeau.
She was in the All in the Family episode which launched the Maude spin off, in which Archie and Edith go to what was supposed to be Carol's wedding but it's called off because she and her fiance had some issues they'd failed to discuss. She was in an earlier AITF episode in which she and Mike knew each other previously and she brings her little boy to the Bunker house and drops him off saying he's Mike's son. But he wasn't.
Marcia Rodd was the wife. She was a wonderful comedic actress. She was the original Carol on 'Maude', but didn't make it past the pilot. Too bad, she was perfect in the role.
I suspect that "irreconcilable differences" is just another way of saying that both parties are not willing to compromise to save their marriage. I've been married 35 years now and my "secret" to our success has been that my wife and I have always tried not to do anything that will upset the other and we were always supportive of one another. But it seems as though today if either spouse makes any compromise to keep the other happy, they are either "whipped" or "losing her identity". These people don't realize that marriage IS a compromise because both parties are sacrificing their egos for the sake of each other.
Indeed. Bravo, sir. Of course, on television in the seventies and before, in sticoms, they rarely ever let couples have REAL arguments over real life issues that real people had. Possibly the first was "The Bob Newhart Show".
Well said. I think compromise is the only way to keep a marriage together, it can't be all his way or all her way. Each needs to give in so they can agree somewhere in the middle on issues they can't agree on. Congratulations on 35 years of marriage, my husband and I will reach that milestone next May. We've had a lot of ups and downs but God has kept us together.
Oh Phyllis...... She and Joann could have been great friends. I heard Cloris Leachman say, in an interview once, that Phyllis always stepped with certainty on the wrong note. Good intentions; poor execution

Fun Fact: Cloris Leachman is left-handed.

please post St. Elsewhere eps too, that was on that ALNetwork also. Did that network morph in another network?
Great catch, Phyllis! I wonder if they had to rehearse that a few times?
She looked very surprised. I think it wasn't supposed to be caught, but instinct kicked in
Where's Mother Dexter in these episodes she the funniest one
Sadly She and Burt both died right after the wedding was taped.
