Cambodia is seeing the trend of retirees and digital nomads moving in. The reasons why people are moving to Cambodia are because of the followings:
    1. Affordability: food, accommodation & transportation and everything is available .
    2. Culture: rich, ancient and unique
    3. People: friendliness, kindness, politeness and respect for foreigners and elderly
    4. Visa & regulations: the world easiest, just go to agent and you get things done.
    5. Landscape: Angkor Wat & other 8000+ temples - to Phnom Penh (bustling capital city, and Sihanouk Ville), beaches (pristine and white af) to laid back town (Kampot, Kep & Battambang) to natural landscape in the northeast.
    6. Integration: Cambodia is one of easiest to integrate or blend into.
    7. Languages: Everyone speak basic/communicative English. People also speak Chinese. National language is Khmer.
    8. Business & Growth: Cambodia is one of the world fastest growing economies, and it is very easy to start a business.
    9. Cheap Labor: you actually can have a house maid for just $250 monthly.

@@TheZevvy because the trend started early in peaceful Thailand decades ago while Cambodia got embroiled in a US-Vietnam war. When Thailand become a high-income economy, things will get worse for expat and then Cambodia would replace Thailand as the expat-favorite place in the region. Oh man, Try $5000 rent in California, you will get a basic place and a lot smaller, empty and you will have to bring your own furnitures. The nice thing about renting in Cambodia is that, it comes with fully furnished, free internet, even tv’s, pots and pans, silverware and they will come and clean for you.

@@imperialkhmer6146 Of course! I am trying to compare what you’ll get for $5,000 rent here in California VS Cambodia. It’s the same in the US, for $5,000 rent is out of reach for average Americans as well, that’s why we have homeless crises in the US. Homeless here are visible everywhere, under the bridges, sidewalks and by the highways. California has the highest income in the nation if not in the world, but yet people can’t afford rent. Here in California, even though you rent, you have to buy “renter insurance” .

I have to say $5k still feels super pricey for SE Asia. Perhaps I’m not fully considering the size of the space and the views/balcony but-to me-besides the sheer size, it doesn’t seem that luxurious and I feel Thailand has more affordable indulgent properties, but that might just be because it’s a more developed market with more supply 🤷🏽‍♂️

As some living in Phnom Penh for 1.5 years now, it’s very expensive here, extremely loud with construction and karaoke all over the city, groceries are the same or more than UK/US/Canada, and you can’t make money here unless you’re a teacher. Being 100% honest, if you have a $2000 income from abroad then you’ll be okay here, if you want to make money from here, you won’t. The perk is the visa situation as Thailand has made it extremely difficult for visas and work permits for more than a year’s stay whereas in Cambodia you just pay $530 and get a 1 year visa and work permit (which they make you have even if you aren’t working in Cambodia). The people are lovely here, but you will feel very isolated and distanced from the rest of the world and fall behind in life should you want to leave after a few years. My two cents.

If it makes you feel better and want someone to blame for the outcome of your choices, here, blame me. But I'm an Aussie so blaming me is by your definition, my country's fault. Haha

Top 7 rice exporter, top 8 garments exporter, top 2 cashews exporter…Cambodia exports car tires, shoes, electronics….These are just a few of goods that Cambodia exports. Cambodia is expected to export 38 million car tires per year. State of the art factory ruclips.net/video/BFnfeBEP4_I/видео.htmlsi=_SGiKvwrjRg0RChr

Cambodia transformed themselves? Really? Which bridge have they ever built besides the ones they built 1,000 years ago in Angkor Wat? HINT: It was the Chinese.

@@kevin2039 this type of person is called ignorant and selfish. he’s Vietnamese. The word “china” the Vietnamese or Thai like to use a lot to insult Cambodia. I have seen this kind of comments hundreds of times before from the Thai and the Vietnamese Because they don’t like to see Cambodia get ahead. They are scared. They are not happy to see other people’s success other than themselves.

@@wigalertAnother words, you meant that Cambodian people are dumb? Can’t build anything? There are no Cambodian Engineers, Architects, layers, construction workers, etc…zero? Really? How about I tell you that the world’s IQ test index shows Cambodia ranks # 15, Thailand ranks 64 and Vietnam ranks #60. Do you know #15 is closer to #1.
