James's 240 is nasty. It definitely fits him well.
240 vs mullet to the 1/8th would be an epic battle. Both Cleetus and James can cut a great light and the cars have close to the same times, even with the better launch on the 240.

You can tell (for the most part) its genuine.
LOL I love it. That Steve Morris big block is breaking everything around it. Such a refreshing change from breaking the engine itself. These peripherals are easier to upgrade as needed (or so it seems to this heretofore car-clueless fan. Any knowledge I have is from watching Cleetus and KSR for five years.)
Is it a SM block or did he just build the engine? Cause I've heard it wasn't a billet block.

One thing iv learned from watching this channel over the years is Bradenton & Orlando seem to be the only ones in the country that knows how to prep a track. Because it’s ALWAYS dialed!

That’s why I personally don’t read too much into the passes they make at this track. What the car does here really doesn’t apply to 90% of the other tracks they run.
MIR has better prep for big events like World Cup Finals
they're certainly hamming it up for youtube, compound isn't cheap.
@@TANGYHATCHY but that says more about the tracks than it does about the car. When a top fuel dragster runs a 5.0 second pass on a perfectly prepped track you dont go and say "but that doesn't apply to other tracks!". not the car's fault, just the track's fault for not holding the power

The editting for passes on the Cleeter channel is always on point. The multiple shots from different angles back to back is awesome. Really shows a lot more than most drag racing vidyas.
Only additional angle I'd love to see is a stationary shot from down track. There was one such shot from the last event, Mullet sounded brutal screeching toward the camera from afar. Would love to see and more importantly hear that shot added to the montage goodness!
Most definitely! You don't get the perspective of how fast these cars are going from the start line! Seeing them whiff by at the end is scary fun!

I like it when the bumps are tight and concise, instead of rocking back and forth and ruining the launch. I hate to see drag racers ruin runs because of a rocking car from the bump.

I wonder if the front motor plate is flexing causing one of the accessories to pull on the crank drive assembly in a weird way.
Idk man, that mandrel is pretty beefy, a belt being able to break it at all seems weird.

It happening on back to back passes is very suspicious. (last pass on RMRW and first test pass)
Something is locking up and breaking the mandrel.
Either way they should mount a small camera to monitor the front of the motor. It will provide information about how the belt oscillation can be causing stress.
That mandrel is cantilevered out a long ways for the diameter and load from the pump if it is made aluminium, that is my guess.

What’s wild is James 240 is faster than the whole fleet to the 8th and James had it before he started working with cleet? Cleetus budget has to be huge yet James got her dialed.

1/4" of threads in that turnbuckle tensioner might be wallering out, causing an oscillation... Less thread than the diameter of the bolt is never a good thing.

Could be the weld, heat stress can make alloys brittle. Some alloys require a heat treatment like stepping the part up to 500 to weld and stepping down after
In Steve's latest vid (in the comments) he says it's the traction control that's causing it (fyi).

12:51 - That's the 2nd time it's done a 1:09 in the 60ft. Once that suspension is fine tuned, it'll knock out 1:10s consistently.
It's the second time a ids car has done a 1.09 ita the first time for jackstand, then another ids car went a 1.09

Yeah that should add some strength to it.
this does make sense. however, i would of thought steve morris would have seen this issue/recommended the fix when he was there during the engine install/dyno. or by talking to cleet after these passed 2 failures.
It breaks not because it is long, but because of excessive side load. Cogged fuel pump drive does not need to be guitar string tight!
@@CarsandCats It's breaking because of the unsupported length, Because the pump is now having to flow more
methanol than it has ever had to flow before which causes the pump to put more load on to the belt which in turn causes
the shafts to bend in towards one another really they could do with being as short as possible but as they are there is
to much unsupported length and the only way to stop these failures is to outrigger the shafts together to stop them from
bending in towards one another but you have got the fact that toothed belts should not be like a guitar string.
James needs to tone down that bump a tiny bit… almost jumped out of the beams… lol…. Leave everything else spicy, knock that bump down a hair.
Is it a big bump…. Or a small dry hop?
