Our next leg of the trip sees us in Saltburn-by-the-Sea where they welcome campervans and motorhomes alike and we have a great wildcamp. However, before then we do our first laundry trip ever so how did it go ?. We see the sights of the town, the beach and have a couple of lovely but great walks taking in the history.
Our names our Stew & Jane and along with 'Harry' our Auto Campers Ford Custom Transit campervan we are Getaway Geese, we record our adventures as we enjoy the freedom of vanlife. We hope our videos inform and maybe inspire you to vanlife whether that be permanent living or casual trips.

Great video. Obviously Carlsberg did that Launderette. Nice to get a warm welcome in your van isn't it and with such great views from that park up too. Love the beach huts, so bright n cheery, and a photographer's dream. The blue Brian hut would be my favourite too ❤. Well done that incredibly compassionate man Paul, to save even just one desperate and lost person in this world is a wonderful thing to have done 🙏. We need more Pauls. What a lovely video. So much to see on that walk as well. I have been to most places on the east coast from Brid upto Seahouses but not Saltburn .
It’s a great circular walk and the views from the cliff top is great - we liked Saltburn it had a good feel to it

Hey geese, not about this particular episode, but You helped me out today! I needed to put water in my tank without a hose. “What would Stew do?” I asked myself! Then I remembered seeing he’d used string to tie up the funnel so as not to need three hands. Sorted!

Loved Paul’s van. Awesome. My kind of laundry with coffee and cake. What a great place to do your smalls 🤣. Wow. Those beach huts! That walk was really poignant with all the messages. Amazing that it’s helping to save lives. I would not like that path on the edge 😬. That pup was gorgeous. Salt burn looked lovely and well worth a visit.

Wonderful video of Saltburn, one of my favourite places to escape to from Middlesbrough, it's a very special and calming place.
I heard what you said about unfriendly parking in Helmsley, I once got a ticket for parking with a blue badge and the signs not clear that blue badge holders have to pay. That was an expensive lunch out, it's part of Scarborough Council who are renowned for slapping tickets wherever they can
Councils have to wake up and stop being steered by a few vocal few - speak to ship keepers and ppl earning a living they want all types of travellers as long as you respect an area

Next time your in the North I thoroughly recommend the Northumberland coast particularly Bamburgh , Alnmouth, Craster and Lindisfarne.

What an amazing laundrette and a fab idea so you can have a cuppa while you're waiting for your washing! Never been to Saltburn by the Sea but it looks very nice and will have to add it to our ever growing list. I thought the happy benches were inspired by the Ricky Gervais Netflix series that I watched but can't remember the name of lol.
Ah you might be right re the benches it’s what was said on the info but either way it’s a great idea and I think links in to the signs on the cliff …. I just hope they carry on with the parkup situation and getting the balance right

Thanks Gillian for watching and commenting unfortunately there is a tide of local councils doing the east thing and starting to block which actually drives people to park all over the place ….. those that litter have no respect for anyone and won’t be watching this that’s for sure lol
The council have passed plans to widen that parking area at the top and make diagonal parking which when done they will no doubt make it pay and display
I just hope they allow overnighting - interesting to see what happens
How wrong.. Saltburn does not encourage camper vans and motorhomes - anything but. There’s a been an outcry after the council proposed to widen the Marine Parade for camper vans - community won. The car park at Cat Nab looks like Woodstock with all the campervans , it’s an eyesore.
Thanks for your comment - we visited a while ago and at the time we felt they did and allowed us to stay in the evening and spend money in the local bars - appreciate your comments and views thanks
Why didn't you pay and stay in the bottom carpark
No real reason although at the time it was fenced off in parts as they seemed to be doing ground works from what I recall - is thatch better spot ?
