that was a very enjoyable video. I am a history lover and seeing those old buildings, and the church makes me think back in time. I wonder how many soldiers were hospitalized in that church? How many made it back home? How often to George Washington visit his mother. I remember sitting in a church in Williamsburg VA and the pew I was in belonged to George Washington. And then there is John standing beside a statue with no name. You make me want to go back there. Well done with excellent music.
Thank you SO much for watching!! I have the same feelings, I sat close to 30 mins on Mary Washington’s front steps imagining what and whom crossed over the threshold! We love history and like in our Richmond video…we like to get out of the books and experience it for ourselves. Thank you again Mr.Monty 💕~Cara
Lived in Fredericksburg for 6 1/2 years. And loved going into the downtown area. Especially on Friday nights from June-Sept. they would have live bands playing. Miss not being there anymore. And that home that was for sale, in your video. It was on the marked for a$1Million dollars. And if you went down where Sedona was, those apartments were worth $800-900 thousand or even $1 million. That's what downtown Fredericksburg costs.
Loved visiting the beautiful town of Fredericksburg, John and Cara. But wait, loved the Otter. Could they paint one magenta? Would love to send Dara a gift! Loved seeing George Washington's mothers home and we wondered it there were Cherry Trees? The "Marquis de Lafayette also visited and stayed for quite some time, Savannah too, after the Revolutionary War. Toured the mansion where he stayed. He was quite a celebrity here in the US. We loved seeing the beautiful homes and other buildings. The food looked wonderful! But no fair. You asked so late. Only recall 6 otters! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
Ha! I had sent Dara a text video when we were there! I’m sure there are cherry trees however we were there after blooming season. Yes we talk about him more in our next videos. He was a champion of America! Thank you so much for watching and……you’ll have to count again just a bit short on the Otter count! 😂😂😂~Cara
LOL!! WOW so many random finds! The CAT?!?!!!..The DOLL..EEEWW! Old cemetary.and curch a former Hospital.....no thank you!!!..lol I counted 9 Otters !! Love the Otters and sitting on the steps..VERY COOL!!!
I think I might have been here back in the day. It rings a bell. We enjoyed your tour of the town. It looks like a lovely place for street cafes and to hang out. The random otters dotted about are cute. No no no the taxidermy cat!!! Not cool. We had a phone like hat when I was a kid! Cool store. Oo that doll is bad news, don’t buy that, it would murder you in the night! Amazing history with George washingtons mums house. Cool! Sorry we didn’t count the otters! Was it about 8? It looks a beautiful place. We’re loving your road trip guys 🍻
I finally got a chance to watch this Cara!!! We’ve been on the road so often this last month, I saw this on your Instagram and have been waiting to be able to see it! When did you go?! I wonder if we were there at the same time? We were in Fredericksburg for my nephew’s wedding June 3rd to June 5th lol.
Just MISSED YOU…we were there the last week in May! Us too finally back in Fla for 3 weeks then off again! Love love this town! Part 2 will be up tomorrow 9am est! 😊
Hi Cara that was a fabulous historic tour ( apart from the stuffed cat ugh 😄 ) and loved seeing Geirge Washingtons mums ( or mams as we say in Welsh ! ) house. And you sat on it's step hehe. I only saw 10 otters but if you count the one at the end , then 11 😃. St George's Church was beautiful and it was nice to see James the union soldier in the inform. That was great and I'll look forward to part 2 . Have a great weekend. Now you have to let me know if I got the otter count right Cara after last week's missing the trolley/ cart count ! Loved this tour and the history ❤️
You WIN! Congratulations thank you for playing along! I thought it was fun finding them. I sat on Mary Washington’s steps for a good while just in awe!!! Wish we could have gone inside! There is more to see next video, but the town was such wonderful surprise! OH THAT CAT….😆😆!!! Thank you for your never ending support! ~💖~Cara
@@JohnandCaraRetiredTravellers Yay I WON ! 🏆 😄 that was fun , they were so cute and the twins that made them must be cute having made them ! Great historical place. Catch you soon . And thanks to you too for your never ending support 💜🙌
Dear John and Cara, thanks for sharing your trip. It is a great historic town. I love you share the historical buildings of hundreds years old, sthll stand firm with beautiful architectur. Good luck, Brother and Sister. I'll be back here again in a few days ahead. Greetings from Jakarta, Wiseman.
Are the otters a symbol of something in Fredericksberg? I don't remember seeing them when I was there 1999. I just love the architecture of the south as well as all the plantations. You guys might love the drive down the James River towards Williamsburg. I stopped at every plantation and each one beautiful and unique in its own way. You can take this route to Jamestown as well. Much prettier then the freeway. That cat was definitely way to creepy! John resembled that Indian 😂🤣 I love the old cemeteries next to churchs, so many in Europe as well. Loving your road trip! Stay safe and keep having fun and sharing your adventures! 💞 Debbie
Hi Debbie thank you for watching! We lived on the Hampton Roads peninsula for 3 years (left 2018). We visited Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown often. We would ride our bikes through the battlefield and woods. Loved loved living there, so much history and beautiful areas. I’m not sure when the Otters came to be, a nice man on the street told us about the artist. This was our first visit and we’d love to return. Ughh that CAT!!!!!!!! Hope you are well appreciate your support 😊~Cara
Oh noooooo, that cat. How awful. Made me shiver. The doll wasn't too bad especially after the cat 😂! Loved the Otters. A sweet town I would call it. It seems serene and well cared for. Nice resident who volunteered information. Lovely walk around Cara and John. 💖 🙏 🇳🇿 🙋♀️ 🇳🇱 Look forward to seeing more of James.
The taxidermi cat and the doll in the shop window looked VERY creepy! Yikes! I loved your tour of the picturesque town and seeing the wonderful old buildings. I really enjoyed hearing about the histroy of the town, very interesting. The otter statues were cute! It's lovely to hear the locals are super-friendly too. Great video!
The people couldn’t have been more lovely!!!!! In part 2 you see where we were walking along and a lady told us about the original Mary Washington college (now a private home), so kind! Beautiful town we can’t wait to return! Thank you so much for watching! 💖~Cara
Kelly and I counted 9 otters, that's if your counting the 2 that were shown twice, lol....We didn't realize how beautiful these towns were, thank you for showing us
