    A lot of doctors do care, but Tom is right. For most you are just a number on a chart. I guess they have to distance themselves or they would go crazy worrying about each and every patient. Prayers to you and your family..

    Scanxiety is a real thing. My first husband was a cancer patient. Every three months he would have CAT scans. I would try not to think about it after the scan and results but the week leading up to the scan it was so horrible. Unfortunately his cancer returned and this time he was terminal ( liver metastasis) nearly 40 years on and I remember the anxiety. I'm sending good vibes your way. Positive thoughts only. ❤❤

    Museums used to be free, at least the ones the state owned (private ones chose for themselves) but that was removed a couple of years ago when the state lowered the culture budget. Maybe Norrköping municipality has decided to keep them for free?

    I do think doctors are so wrapped up in their own part of the job that they don't stop to consider patients. I know I felt like the hospital was so in the wrong that time they kept you waiting and waiting for Malin's bloodwork and then Charlie, I guess, really put his own hopeful interpretation on things and couldn't accept that Malin needed to stay for the bloodwork but not necessarily to stay the night away from Charlie and Bella and Tom. I don't know the answer but I sometimes think - you have a right to be able to say to your doctors, 'do you realise that you've been placing me under extreme stress when in fact you could have told me the results sooner and you could have believed me when I said that I had this pain sooner?' Because if no one says that to them, they definitely won't deal with it - they still might not deal with it even if you say something, but at least you will have spelled out the facts for them.

    • @WVislandia
      @WVislandia 2 месяца назад +2

      I can give an example of what I mean, if you like. I had three operations as they tried to determine whether I had ductal cancer. For the second operation, they stuck me at the end of the day as they hadn't been able to contact me to ask and I accepted that but when I was in recovery after, it was like - no bed, no food left - because I was the last patient. When they said that they needed to do a third operation to keep checking all the margins, I said, 'don't put me last'. What did they do? Put me last. Because I live alone, I am required to spend the night after surgery in hospital so they thought they'd take other patients who could go home sooner. But again - no bed, no food and after I had said, 'don't put me last'. So when I had to have another operation, I wrote the hospital and said, 'are you going to keep discriminating against me because I live alone? It isn't my fault that you have this rule and I don't want you to keep punishing me just because I live alone.' And you know? The doctor who spoke with me about scheduling the operation dealt with my complaint - I really don't think they had thought out the repercussions, they just picked a method and tried to force me into it and they hadn't thought - 'this person has already been last once before, she shouldn't be made last again' and the doctor even said, 'if a patient doesn't tell us this, we wouldn't know.' So while I realise they are thinking hard about their patients, they may not always consider from the patient's viewpoint - so I think Malin has more than a right to say, 'please don't put me under unnecessary stress by keeping results from me, no matter if it is holiday or anything - I am a human being and I have concerns for myself and for my family.'

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I’m so sorry you’ve been through all of this and that nobody listened to you the first times you spoke up. We’ve told everyone everything we’ve been feeling all the way through, the difficult thing is that it’s different people through the summer and not the nurses/doctors we normally deal with. I’ve told everyone I spoke to but it doesn’t really seem to help. We’ve also put in reports about all different kind of things that we’ve been through, so we’ve done it all to hope that it gets better, not just for us but for everyone, in the future 🫶🏼

    Oh NO, don’t do this to us 😢. I know how you both feel. When a specialist does this kind of ( uncaring ) I do not hesitate to let them know what they’ve put myself and family thru. We have to Advocate for ourselves as the healthcare system sure won’t. I am so sorry that they have not contacted you in regards to you Scan Results. Do you not have an app that you can download with the hospital ( my patient portal) so you can see the results of all test that you’ve had done? Which sometimes isn’t a good thing. Shame on them for leaving y’all hanging. Now we have to wait a wk to hear what they are going to do about your intense abd. Pain and scan results, which I am believing that everything is negative in your scan and gonna be positive in that they are going to do abdominal ultrasound and MRI etc to find out what is really causing these horrific cycles of abd. Pain. You in my thoughts and prayers

      Oh I know I was so ready to let them know how I’d been feeling, practiced my speech all the way there to make sure how unfair it is! But then the doctor was so incredibly nice I felt bad because it’s not his fault haha, so we did say it’s unfair and that it’s hard for the whole family and not just me.
      And yes I can see my journal online but I can’t see it until a doctor signs it off and they don’t do that until they’ve spoken to the patient. Thank you for always sending us your love on everything we do, sorry that we don’t always get a chance to respond! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
