    I play this a lot on my morning commute (20 minutes is the exact amount of time it takes me to bike to work in the morning) therefor I sometimes refer to this track as "morning ride"

    • @apurvrdx
      @apurvrdx 9 лет назад +36

      +ituber09 The movie is "souten" 1983 .... the literal translation will be "My wish is that you remain his bride for a million years, dont think of me as his second wife, I am requesting this as I leave" PS this song is the bg music at a funeral. I know this all seems so random right.

Thank you Four Tet for this transcendental experience. Bloody me discovering this in 2020 ughh!. To others listen to Talvin Singh, TJ Rehmi, Kaya Project, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Midival Pundits, Asian Dub Foundation, Nitin Sawhney, State of Bengal, Lelonek, Joi, ...never forget Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Bjork, Aphex Twin, Fluke, Massive attack, EBTG, UNKLE, Underworld...grew up listening to all these biggies, lucky me!

      Even when the second vocal harmonies in the second half are the original vocal played backwards and mixed together? Listen to the timing and cadence of the second vocal. After the rhythm breakdown.
      The fact that it harmonizes perfectly played backwards is a testament to the skill of the original performer. The fact that 4 tet realised this and gave us 20 minutes to hear it and feel the emotional textures and variations I think is an artistic blessing for us all. So many comments here have been of people becoming emotional listening to this. Four tet has given us a way to experience empathy that many people didn't know they could.
