I always found it funny that in G1 the combaticons individually sounded nearly posh and intelligent. But once they merged into Bruticus hes like a primal barbarian who can barely form a decent sentence.
If I recall correctly, the Predacons/Predaking were just the opposite.
Right, u'd think w/all their combined intellect, you'd think Bruticus would have the mind of a general.
@@gringo3002 I believe the case w/Predaking, the fact that they all share the same passions created the intellect .
@@prestonmcleod1726it's almost like the video says that 😳
Except Brawl 😂
Nothing personal I enjoy the G1 combiners the most. Anything after G1 is a good old power ranger posing after forming to let everyone know they are combined. In G1 they formed then started the battle no dancing or posing.
G1 toys were the best. And yes, I am commenting on a two-year old comment .
Man! You ain't lying. Straight to battle none of that animae posing shit.
Yeah ik and I also know I’m commenting on a 3 yr old comment lol
While I love Combaticon team due to their theme being military, I have special place for Stunticons & Aerialbots. Their characters were well written.
Thoughts on Bruticus: I feel like Vortex and Brawl are to blame for Bruticus being a hate-filled brute. Onslaught is a skilled tactician, Swindle is a savvy schemer, and Blast Off is a sophisticated elitist. Had it been just those three, we'd see a more tactile Bruticus, but Vortex's gleeful psychopathy and Brawl's simple-minded brutality brings his mental state down.
imagine this:
A combiner....
Made of combiners...
🤯
So what your saying is, jenga with transformers….interesting 🤔
Holy smokes
Oh no
If that was a thing I feel its name would be Amalgam
Love Combaticons A-Team style introduction!!! It will haunt me for weeks.
Haunt you? Or will it be an earwig that you will be humming? Lol
Their my favorite cause it shows they mean buisness. Military vehichles (except blast off) serious in combat and can beat devastator. These guys get shit done
@@beepityboop3740 You mean the fact that they humiliated Devastator and made him look like a joke in front of Megatron. Yeah Bruticus is my fav too.
When they first had Devastator speak, I guess they put Arthur Burghardt's voice through a vocoder to make him sound like all 6 of them are talking at once.
The Combaticons’ A-team thing, I love it.
That Combaticons A-Team parody is really amusing.

The A Team Reference just elevated you to one of my favourite youtubers! Thank you for this very informative video
The real menasor has special powers!!!!
@ power of: they're gonna build an army of combiner
the bruticus moments in foc had to be some of the best in that game along with raged out grimlock biting shockwave´s arm off HELL YEAH
Love your videos, RodiumsPrimal.
I remember collecting my allowance money over several weeks back in 1985 until I had all six Constructicons. Then I excitedly put them all together to form Devastator!
It blew my 8 year old mind that you could put Transformers together to make even bigger Transformers. hahaha
Superion: was brash and acted like a super solider, he was compantant and a great fighter and well adapt
Defensor: acted like a over bearing mother hen and viewed everyone as "his Children" keep away from people as he gets discracted expecially the children.
Computron: Was a overbearing computer that too forever to react, Very useless. Thanks for nothing Branic the cartoon did him better and he was still useless.
Abomlimation: Take out everything basically forgoet whom is involved
Bruiticus: Strong and dumb like a sack of hammers. Point and click basically, he was good at combat at least
Meansor: psycotic and derange, Very dangerous and crazy, the perfect Juggernaught
Predaking: Tactical, smart, dangerous, efficent, Prey you do not run into him.
Devasator: Destorys what is built, point and watch him destroy
You basically nailed them right on the head almost. Great job
Ed Paradis you need to correct the decepticons combiners name it is Abominus Devastator and Menasor.
What do you think about volcanicus(dinobots)
Need some Liokaiser in there
You didn't nail it, Bruticus was a well disciplined soldier, his only weakness is that he had to be told what to do (given orders) he was not awkward and could adapt to any situation! Superion couldn't adapt to changes and would tell the others to separate when situations change! Predaking was a relentless predator, but wasn't very intelligent, though he didn't need to be, because he was relentless in stalking his prey! Defensor thought more like a human and a street savvy cop! He had more of Streetwise personality than he did the others!
check your spelling
Well Devastator will always hold a special place in my heart, Predaking has to be one of my favorites. Not only like you said is the most effective combiner, his combined form looks like a stunning piece of art, even in the days where Transformers were weird and clunky he was always really quality.
I've never liked the Enigma of Combination because it seems awfully deus ex machina. The notion that they need to be purpose built from the beginning to be able to combine makes more sense to me than just a magic widget that you can zap at a random group to make them suddenly able to merge. It also makes them a lot less special if you can just gather together any five or six random Transformers and zap them into a combiner at your convenience.
I completely agree. I've the Enigma always did seem like a cop out.
@@RodimusPrimal ok but the matrix of leadership is a literal deus ex machina like oh Unicron is attack GUESS ITS MATRIX TIME rage virus infecting the entire face GUESS ITS MATRIX TIME
@@themostbritishpersonalive868 for the rage virus there was a rather convincing reason for why the matrix could do what it did other then 'it is the only thing that can stop me' that wisdom is what can stop hate and it once did stop the plague long long ago, it also basically deactivated the matrix, so it did more to it then stopping the plant eating plant did.....
I always assumed that the enigma was Nexus Prime's spark, like how the matrix is Primus' spark in some stories.

I love the A-Team reference!
I literally laughed when I saw it!
I used to watch the A-Team lol
There wasn’t a toy I wanted more as a kid than Devastator. Then when the Stunticons came along, they just got better. It would be awesome to have every set. I’m always looking to buy! Hope that’s ok to say in the comments.
I love the channel. Been binge watching for the past few days. I just found it.
Hit the like and subscribe button folks!
Keep the videos coming coming sir! I am a big fan!
The G1 version I like as the most effective combiner Predaking
He is awesome. His toy was so hefty that he towered over other combiners in G1.
Agreed, can lift 500 tons without straining a circuit. Toy is high price point. Equals most dominant combiner.
Predaking is practically a god. I still remember the clip where they show cased him on the cartoon, Predaking has no weaknesses, and autobots firing on him with no effect.
@@SignOfTheTimes008 Could he take on Omega Supreme or Metroplex is the question they are on another level of power. In the comic the Dinobots merged to become a the unstopple BEAST but it has no mind and attacks everything.
@@RodimusPrimal PredaKing was a beast, no weaknesses, flashy & colorful appearance, was my All time favorite transformer
It makes more sense that all. Minds combine to create a new personality
So is the main idea that the classical combiners (i.e. Devastator) have some singular function (like destroying, defending, taking calculated actions) while their individual parts are just that, individuals?
For the most part yes. They all do contribute to the mind of the combiner, which is why Devastator's voice is modulated to sound like more than one character speaking at once.
Love the a team reference
Very well done and comprehensive video! Like I commented in part 1, there's so much complexity to the various Transformers mythology that it can make your head spin.
Agreed about making your head spin. Just covering this topic was quite exhausting to put together, but I'm glad folks enjoy it.
My favorite origin story is the idea where Decepticons made Devastater to compete with Omega Supreme and then both sides started making them in an arms race.
Can't go wrong with G1.
If I recall correctly, there were other robots on Cybertron similar to Omega Supreme. I need to rewatch the G1 cartoon. I think I will soon.
@@gringo3002 guardian robots
@@rowlandp6314 I recall better now.
I recall that Optimus Prime didn't know Omega Supreme was a Guardian Robot until he (Omega Supreme) told him (Optimus Prime).
@@gringo3002 one of the better episodes, gave omega some character depth, wish they did that abit more through out the series
Well, menasor wasn't wrong.. *THEY MADE AN ARMY OF COMBINERS!*
This is a LOT to take in and requires a second and third viewing ;) I am REALLY glad you tackled this subject! Your TF Multiverse knowledge is mind-boggling! Thank you for taking the time and effort to put this together!
*WE WILL BUILD AN ARMY OF COMBINERS!!!*
I love that Combaticon A-Team skit! "Maybe you can hire....the Combaticons!" After thinking a bit about it, they actually do compare very well. Both Onslaught and John 'Hannibal' Smith are great planners. Swindle and Face love making deals and sometimes getting in over their head. Brawl and B.A. Baracus provide the muscle and Vortex and Murdoch are the fliers. That leaves Blast Off left over. Maybe Blast Off can provide transport? He can paint himself black with a red stripe on the side and be the black van.
Thanks. It inspired me to make a full version of the A-Team intro after.
Cool. I used to watch the A-Team when I was a kid.
THis dude goes deep
My favorite team will always be the Stunticons. They weren’t just programmed to be destructive, but mentally unstable. In that way, they are the most similar to humans.
They are a paranoid, a fatalistic manic depressive, an obsessive competitor, and one with severe ADHD. And they are led by what could be best described as an abusive alcoholic father. Lastly, their gestalt is schizophrenic.
I would venture to say they are the most interesting of all the combiners, and worthy of their own series.
I LOVE your videos. Now I want a Rodimus Primal toy from Hastak.
DAMN GOOD TOPIC.
I RECALL THINKING BOUT THIS AS A KID.
I ALSO WONDERED WHY SOMETIMES AUTOBOTS COULD FLY AND SOMETIMES COULD NOT.
THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR INFO ON THAT TOO!
Ultrabee IMHO was the best explanation of how a gestalt's mind work. They started in a very messy way because of their severe lack of teamwork, but when they learned how to think together as one the finally achieved their goal.
Combiners however were the victory point of the Transformers franchise on the Go-Bots franchise.
Let's admit it: The Go-Bots were not so bad and the G1 Transformers were all but flawless. But the amount of combiners in the Transformers franchise made the difference. The Gobots had on only three combiners. One of which never made into the cartoon and another was destroyed few minutes after his debut.
I also think the G1 cartoon was a much better show overall in comparison to Go-Bots. As for combiners, while Ultra Bee did have to bring teamwork in order to function, their minds didn't meld so it wasn't quite as smooth. It was interesting to see RiD's Menasor in action though. There were some great moments of him having in fighting within his own mind.
Reminds me of the idea that the Combiner Titan, merging with their bodies and minds with each other, into one, new gestalt mind, and I'll add that to my list, and one more thing: You know you gotta admire that, Rodimus Primal, and thanks for helping me with this work! 😉😉😉😉
(Megatron) Constructicons merge for the kill!
That A-Team spoof earned this vid a like
Best Transformers retrospective ever! Well done! 👍👍🤖
Thank you!
G1 devastator, and mensasaur will always be my favorite
Love that A-Team/Combaticon spin up!!! Bravo Rodimus Primal... great video!!!! 😆👍
I have something more coming soon with that. Stay tuned!
RodimusPrimal Can't wait!!!
Great video very well done, there is so much more to combiners than just 5 bots joining together.
Still don't understand Menasor's voice in The Prime Wars Trilogy.
Been waiting for this for a while. Fantastic! 18:10 LOL
Thanks for making this video dude! :)
Really helped to clear up a lot of theories & uncertainties I'd had with the Combiners :)
Wow, your video quality has increased alot since your 1st combiner video, good going

I am very happy that I stumbled upon your channel. I have seen many incarnations of the Transformers, but was never a big fan. Now that I am getting more into the franchise your video helped fuel my interest.
5:06,that is so great detail and animation there.
Gotta love G1.
Gotta love that Toei Doga animation there.
And one of the few examples of animation of that quality in G1.
Noice.
As far as I understood it concerning G1 Decepticon combiners, their minds were gestalts and as follows:
Devastator - The personalities clashed because they each felt they were the leader, so Devastator's personality was very unstable and agressive - reflecting his internal conflict
Menasor - None of the 'limbs' respected Motor Master as the leader, so there was reluctance to follow his instructions, making Menasor mentally conflicted, but still better mentally than Devastator
Bruticus - Considering the militant nature of the Combaticons, Bruticus responded well to orders and instruction, but did not do well under his own direction. Making him a more stable mind than Menasor or Devastator.
Predaking - The components are creatures of instinct and of a predatory nature, as such, when they merge, the dominant personality has the most influence on their gestalt mind, meaning Razorclaw is the base personality for Predaking - making his actions and decisions the most unified of the combiners, and thus, best able to utilize his combined abilities.
Abominus - Made up of creatures that instill fear and base responses, Abominus acts on pure instinct, without a dominant mind to bring order to it's thoughts, making his actions erratic and unpredictable.
I kind of think Prediking is like a pack of preditors working together.
Great stuff, I never thought about it that way.
Great video! Really appreciate all your hard work!

Love the A-Team Combaticons intro. Awesome brother.
Thanks! I did a whole intro afterward using the same beginning as that part. It was really fun to make! ruclips.net/video/8wo-WHkU-Uk/видео.html
Another reason why I always liked the Decepticons more than the Autobots. The Decepticons always had the better combiners in my opinion. Devastator, Menasor Bruticus and Predaking even the terrorcons who formed abominus was cool.
Great job! Loving your videos.
Thanks!
The combatacons were my favourites for a long time so I went and I collected all of them but they were my favourites and had great respect for the others also but great stuff thanks for this one
This was an amazing and very deep research.
Things that make you go hmmmmmm🤔 great video dude! I really wish I had grabbed the G1 Giftsets of Menasor and other combiners. I do however have Devastator so if I could only have one now that would be it. Great video! You do these very well bro!
Love the NES style music
It works so well with Transformers.
My favourite will always be predaking. He's a badass and looks awesome
He indeed looks awesome. He is super powerful too.
Another amazing commentary video!
Combiner are extreme they are also very powerful like menasor and bruticus . Awesome video bro 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Menasor was voiced by Dashie...! THAT WAS DASHIE!
Good video! Though I am surprised you didn't include the actual visual look inside the mind of Bruticus from Till All Are One #4, where we actually literally and visually see inside the mind of a combiner (for the first time, I think?). That was a specific look at how the minds of the Combaticons were interacting with each other- one was focused on the violence and fighting, some dealing with their own personal agendas or issues (feeling the 'death' of their teammate for the first time, for instance) and one trying to keep the group mind together and not let it descend into violent chaos. It was a fascinating look inside the combiner mind that I'd been waiting years to see.
VERY INFORMATIVE. GREAT VID!
THANK YOU!
Yay, love this vid
8:46 GOLD! PURE RETRO GOLD!!!
Indeed. This might lead to something in the near future!
RodimusPrimal I hope so!
Thanks again for your reply!
Always my favorite type of Transformers. Very nice summary of how they did it in the comics. Never knew how involved they had gotten in the comics. Wish they used the groups a little more in G1. I do like the combining of personalities into a new personality when combined. It kinda goes with what I thought as a kid when I first saw the combiner groups in G1. I always thought one of two things either their minds combined as they combined. Or my first thought was the Gestalt, like the individual personalities of each member of the group, was an independent distinct personality all its own with no merging of minds.
Then just to throw a third in the mix I also thought that maybe the leader of the group was the one that controled the combined form when combined. That one going back to the mention that the one forming the body and head, since that is what most of the leaders of the groups form in the Gestalt form except for Scrapper as far as I know (maybe why the comic had Hook as leader before Scrapper was appointed), being in control of the combined from. A very fun and interesting topic indeed.
Yay a new Rodimus video. I really appreciate the hard work and research that goes into these videos. Rodimus watches post G1 transformers series so that I don't have to. G1 is where the ❤️ is for me and as such Predaking has always been my favorite combiner
Thanks! I appreciate that. Predaking is awesome. His G1 toy is heavy!
Fun fact gestalt appears in a quite by sentinel prime in the animated tie in book the Allspark almanac
This is brilliant.
Thanks!
Great video.
Good work ! I thought I knew a lot of Transformers !
Thanks! There is always more to learn.
At the beginning did menasor say "we combiners are here to stay, and more are coming "?
Usually the team leader forms the torso, so for years I assumed Scrapper was the torso of Devastator, so I was shocked the other day when I realized that he formed a leg. I can’t believe I didn’t notice that a long time ago.
Ouch Roddy! Lol..I wasn't there like you said I would...Great video! Till all are one!
Thanks. According to the list, it says you aren't on there. I appreciate the one time amount. In fact, the retro theme at 8:45 will have a full version thanking you for the mic!
Menasor is corrupted, probably because he has lots of brains combined.
