Hello, I have a question. How do you sign idioms? Do you sign what you say or what the idiom means?

From my experience and understanding, I would sign it the same way I would say it. Then if needed I could sign the meaning of the saying to the person receiving the message. Ensuring they understand the intended meaning. Hope that helps😊
