      A gentleman? Maybe, but a rather dull and self-important one. He said "I'm a magistrate" about eight times. And not too bright either compared with the Irish lass who followed him. She was was a lot sharper - and had a sense of humour.

      @@srmjo Magistrates are not appointed for their sense of humour. They exist to uphold the law. And the UK was a much more lawful country when this was recorded than it is today. We need more of these gentlemen to sort the country out!

    The way the gentleman in the Rolls spoke made me think of the Italian Job. Being from Northern Ireland myself we don't quite have the same capacity to speak with such class. Wonderful stuff.

    I first saw this one around 1991 on the old HA comedy channel...I've been saying the "Don't give me any of the old story" line any time I could ever since...love this guy and his polite British reactions. I just wish I was a judge (magistrate) so I could use that line too.

    Oh wow! People seemed to be very polite and decent years ago. Even though the gentleman was not pleased with what the lady did to the cars, he still was able to express his opinion in a firm and polite manner. I thought we are to be an example of people of the past. Why are we becoming savages instead?

    The dunk the biscuit in someone elses tea , and the flower that bent over and drank your tea were the classics. There was one were a telephone box was mounted on a forklift. One poor sod nearly had a heart attack with that one.

    This is from the mid seventies, when the old Candid Camera concept had been revived. The cars getting damaged were already fairly old models by that time. But they weren’t conspicuously old, as that would have drawn attention. Indeed, such vehicles were still on the road in the mid seventies.

    In these shows its entertaining to play "spot the microphone". They were BIG and had very poor range. In this clip the microphone is tucked into the jacket arm, hence why they have it their resting on the window.

    @cockle69er The UK version of Candid Camera started in 1960. It returned in 1974 with the colour episode pranks that I've uploaded. The crew filmed in many locations in the UK including Margate and Portsmouth. A lot of the stunts were done in South West London in areas such as Richmond Upon Thames and Tolworth. I'm no expert although I did get info on the show from Arthur Atkins who worked on it. Let me know if you need more info and I will see if I can help.

      Demands of all conceivable factors placed upon the human psyche have led to this - it's not a mysterious phenomenon.
