I completely understand how fast a 2 car garage fills up. Mine is there also. I am re-doing a storage shelf for my metal and wood in the future. Will also have a few other added features. Good job
Love the rack Andrew! Fixing to start building one myself and I got a bunch of ideas thank you sir. I'll do a video of it so you can see it when I get done.
This one has worked well for keeping a few of my favorites on hand without going overboard. I need a better solution for my drop material that’s too good to discard. I’m kind of a drop hoarder!
So i was building me a good sturdy metal storage rack like that one and when i finally got done with it, i realized i didbt have any more metal i needed tp store on it so it just ended up taking up just as much space that the metal used to
You do really need a commercial space...or at least half of a shipping container either in your backyard or in front of your house (if the HOA or zoning allows)...but you can get Pallet racking and chop it down to fit your home garage height so that it can fit floor to ceiling. Yes...it will not roll around, but if you put a ton of metal on it, the weakness will be the wheels. The wheels will develop flat spots if you don't move the rack around. With pallet racking, you can have as meny shelving levels as you need, and you can make it 8' or 10' or 12' wide, depending on how much space you have. Even better is 4x4 pallet racking as high as you can have it to store shorter metal stock, and as many shelf levels as you need. You can also make the same thing by welding a bunch of 1/2 square tubing and deck it with some plywood.

@@Andrewactual I thought so, looks exactly like my old neighborhood, or at least similar enough that I could tell. Where do you call home these days? Just curious.. NC here obviously...
The rack measures only about 28” deep, 72” wide and around 48” tall but I have so much metal stacked on it now you can hardly see the rack! Those little coasters are taking the weight quite well.

Thanks for wearing that face shield.
Really like the design
It worked out well! Thanks for watching.

That’s pretty funny!

I’m upgrading to a 50x60 shop on some acreage, the main job and doing it myself and by myself is making it drag on but it’s getting there!
