Man, the PDF is an absolute mess to understand: broken English, screwed up order of play, MANY ambiguities. The system itself works beautifully but the rules are incomprehensible. I'm glad you made this video
I am still sad that there is no official solo variant for this game. Controlling a Star Wars faction feels so epic, I would love to play that experience solo. But thanks for showing this variant.
Yaaasss thank you sir Colin for this playthrough. Your a legend, have been eyeing this game for a while for solo and this has convinced me it's worth it
I like your idea about taking only the left-side or right-side (as a way to decrease the difficulty). As for the thematic, see it as the other planets contribute secretly to the Rebel effort against the Empire! :)
I think if I had SET UP the Empire the correct ways in my practice plays. . . it certainly would of helped too! I now need to get this back to the table starting with 3 loyal and 2 subjugated systems. I really think this would counter-balance the fact that I felt I had no troops compared to the rebels! But glad you liked the idea if you wanted an easier game!
COLIN!!! Thank you so much. For so long I've been thinking about this, but I've never even remotely thought about actually getting it because of the lack of solo. A month ago I heard there is a version.... now you're showing it. Haven't watched the video yet... but am over the moon that now I can make an informed choice.
@@alejandrolozano1258 - Not yet. Am going through my shelf of shame and currently exist on the 'one game in, one game out' rule. And have not yet replayed a game that I'm happy to get rid of. Soon... hopefully
@@EricWoning I think that's the best strategy otherwise you keep buying games lol. I will copy your strategy...after star wars because it arrives today 🙈
@@OneStopCoopShop sure! In fact I'm eager to see how you interpret the 3 outposts rules. When I played this variant some months ago I was a little confused about how they worked. For sure watching you playing will clear my doubts.
Of course in my 3 practice plays I setup the blasted game wrong HAHA so I don't know yet. I need to give it a shot, but it would not only INCREASE my production but REDUCE the rebels, so yes I have a feeling it would make a substantial difference!
Love your videos and your take on playing solo. Also, thanks to the author who designed the solo variants. I hope you can do a full playthrough as the empire in solo sometime. I think I'll try solo sometime myself.
What if you used left side resources for the rebels to fight (throughout the entire game) and set aside the right side resources (throughout the game) for the final battle(s)? That would thematically limit the rebels during the game while still building a strong force to overcome at the end.
I'm sorry I can't find it either! Not sure it would work and rebels would have quite the advantage I think! Maybe if a new player was playing the rebel player?
Being able to play both sides against an AI makes this MUCH better for a solo player. Still feel like there may be better Star Wars soloable games out there, like Imperial Assault. But I am keeping this one for sure!
Hi again! I was wondering if you can recommend a solo board game that you feel part of the story...I get that feeling with star wars and also eldritch horror, even spirit island. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!
Don't own the game just yet (it's getting delivered today as i write this) but indeed the rebels seem far too strong thematically. Wonder if you have tried some of the suggestions you said at the end of the video? Since i don't know the game yet i can't guess what would be the perfect solution but absolutely something like only planets with one construction would be used or only the planets with two signs on them. Maybe even don't allow those planets to be used at all and just multiply what their secret forward bases produce with the amount of leaders that were unused that round or only certain leaders(But I'm just spitballing here since i haven't played the game. It might not work at all)

I am with you, but not sure FFG will ever do that, so fan variants are all we got! Thanks for watching!
This was incredibly helpful. I've played it two players, but I'm really eager to give it a try solo. Thanks, Colin.
Yes! Glad to see this play-through!
Just let me know the changes we need to make and I will update the player reference/aid!
Thanks!
Erik! Your reference materials are awesome! Appreciate you doing all of that work. I love the outposts document as well. . so cool!
Happy to help but it’s you whose work we are celebrating. This play through is amazing!

I am so happy to see this. Have been waiting for a good solo version for Rebellion.
Hope you enjoy it thanks for watching!!
what a genius variant.. the explore tokens make it very exciting
Every reveal is so stressful I love it!!

Yeah I clarified with Frédéric, hopefully it makes sense! If not let me know!!
@@OneStopCoopShop Great! Thanks!
KNOWN ERROR: Setup I should draw 5 Empire Probe Cards, first 2 are subjugated and 3 loyal systems! Made the game a bit harder for myself there!
Do you thinking getting the additional loyal systems would be enough to offset the overwhelming power of the Rebels in the beginning?

The fact that you play variants is big plus for me.
Thanks! Gotta love those fan made variants!

Hello again. Do you have a tutorial to paint the minis? Thanks!
Shoot I do not, I'm not much of a painter just kinda throw something on so it's not grey!
Wondered how this would work ever since you replied to my comment :)
YESSS! I hope this help you!

I wish I remembered, I think someone made it on BGG! Check the file section on there!
