    Wow, so many memories. I was in year 12 in high school, and Canberra seemed a million miles away, but I loved reading all about it in Street Machine - Scotty

      I was 2 in '88 and will never forget my first Nat's aged 12 in '98 after years of VHS footage and Street Machine reading as a kid.
      Love your work Scotty. You're a strong man and inspiring wrencher. Keep it up.

      @@danozism Same. Your right, it wasn't JUST Street Machine was it? Ahhh, the good ol' days... 😂 Makes me feel old talking like this, but the good feelings from the nostalgia is undeniable... I actually watched the Go to Whoa from the '88 Nat's today, so many of the cars were really memorable cars from my childhood. Hero cars, like the Pro Stock VL that was still wearing it's (I assume) factory blue paint job and didn't have the mechanical stack injection setup from his Torana until the '89 Nat's... 80% of the field were these hero cars, it was so awesome to watch... @Street Machine- thanks for posting those old vids guys

    I was 11yo and me and my younger brother would hire these vhs tapes from video ezy for weekend movie choice - loved the burnouts at the ends of tape and remember being very interested in the wet t shirt section as a young lad 😂😂

    That Stuart Bennet (I think) Holden Ute looks to have a VL turbo in the engine bay, in 1988 they'd only been around a short time. Anyway, got my attention.

      It did indeed. Very few rb30 swaps at the time and that thing went far better than a 5ltr and even many bigger 8s of it's time (my cousin was his friend). A few years after this is when the engines really started to get heavily tuned into the 270-300+kw range and put in Gemini's, Torana, even KE70 corollas plus big turbo showcar and dragcar VLs. The nights on weekends in the mid 90s Melbourne suburbs were a symphony of GM and ford V8s, big T51R turbos, coming on late AF in skyline RB26s and fluttering RB30 turbo compressor surges over thumping sound systems.

    • @southerndiy1
      @southerndiy1 27 дней назад

      Hard to tell from the video but anyone know what mods were done to it? From here it looks like a pretty standard RB30ET (can’t tell if that’s the stock crossover pipe or part of the AVO cooler kit) and sounds like it’s running the stock converter - a bit lazy off the line until it hits boost.

    • @oz2strokeman394
      @oz2strokeman394 25 дней назад

      @@southerndiy1 I have owned the same VL turbo near 30 years and recognized the red cam cover, it looks like a stock crossover pipe but you should ask @danielwitham1791 coz he knew the owner.

    I miss the old "Burnouts, Blowers and Boobs" vids from when I was a kid... Street Machine has gone way too politically correct to remember those days now... In a way it's a good thing, in another it's a shame and the end of an era
