The depth of this series is hard to comprehend. It was made in the 70s when throw-away cop shows and sitcoms were the rage. Yet some writers, editors and studio heads saw something in an hourly continuing saga of a mixed-race Shaolin priest escaping a death sentence in China to California in the 1880s, mixing martial arts, Cowboy life, Eastern Philosophy, narrow-minded prejudice, etc. and thought, "Yeah, the public will eat it up!" And they did! And those of us who know about it (and I, as an early teen then, grew up with it) still appreciate what a totally different genre this belongs in...maybe it is the sole member of whatever that genre that is...I have all of the series on DVD and never get tired of reviewing it...
@@carlalbrecht818 As u know, Chief Dan George character, Lodge Skins, in Little Big Man was similar to his character, Ancient Warrior, in the Kung Fu TV show. Here is a bit of the script from the Little Big Man movie. Lodge Skins: Yes, my son. I want to d!e in my own land, where Human Beings are buried in the sky.

My dear soulmate friend, Martin Zwiebeck, wrote this episode. I walked with him out of this world when he was dying.
I wasn't around then but I've been so impressed with these clips that i ordered the entire series on DVD, the only time I've ever done that.
Chief Dan George was in Outlaw Josey Wales too.
Was he really a chief?
If not, it's considered an insult to call him that.
@@tonytafoya6217 Chief Dan George, OC (Order of Canada) was a chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, B.C.
Played opposite Dustin Hoffman in 'Little Big Man' too.
