Great explanation of the topic. Beautiful design with the effect of "glass" panels. Thank you! I'll be waiting for similar detailed video tutorials. Good luck with your channel!
@@yourownkpi do you have a cheat sheet? Another question, when designing you recommend a frame size double that of the Power BI page. Is that the same as a regular sized frame but saving the png at twice the magnitude?
No I don't have one but probably you can find some on google or youtube. Yes save I the image as png 1920x1080. Then I set the Image fit to fit. It gives a better resolution if you would to it in 1280x720 like the Power BI canvas. You can also export it as SVG and then you don't have the resolution issue at all, its always super sharp. But I had some issues with SVG, that some images couldn't be imported into Power BI properly
When you don't want an item/image to snap to grid you can hold down the 'Alt' key and then move the item. That way you don't need to add the header image again.
I would say SVG is generally better because you won't have resolution problems. However when you export from Figma as SVG, some effects can't be exported like background blur or angular gradient. And also I had troubles importing SVG into Power BI. I can set it as background or import it as a shape or button fill, but I couldn't import it as a regular image.
Excellent Tutorial! Though when I attempt to do the Transparent Color as a measure and set it on the button, it doesn't seem to work though, did something change within PowerBI?
Excuse me sir, how is it possible to put transparency on matrix object, because I couldn't find the option on background color from values, I just can select the regular colors?
Answer: step 1) Select you matrix table then go to visual=> style presets change to None step 2 ) Go to general => Effect=>Enable Background => choose 100% transparency
@Your Own KPI I want to generate a sort of component library to implement within Power BI and then developers can copy/paste those components for their projects.
I follow all the steps to the end, But after Importing the canvas background in the fit it to the current dashboar, this is no option called "shape template " for me to hide it. Do you know what might be the cause ?
There should be the Shape template group in the original pbix file. I simply grouped the original white shapes to make it easier to delete them. You can just delete them one-by-one or with multiple selection with Ctrl.
Indeed, it's a matter of quality vs quantity. If you have to push out a lot of reports as quick as possible, this is not the way to go. On the other hand you can build a design system in Figma which you can use and easily adjust for different reports. I will do some videos on that in the future.
great tool and good display of options, but honestly awful design choice for the dashboard. Guess you want the audience to have a hard time reading the lower graphs and tables

Thanks so much. What you did in 40 mins took me 3 hours but I'm sure I'll get faster with more practice.
It will be definitely faster with time. Watch some videos what keyboard shortcuts people use. That's key for working fast in Figma.

excellent video tutorial it will be great if you do more tutorials like this one, greetings from spain
excellent video tutorial for power bi users, thx a lot!
Thanks for watching :)
Many thks for your sharing !
.. just testing it now
Very good video. I’ve done alot of design i. PowerPoint, but want to use Figma now which can do so much more.
Figma is amazing
Thanks for sharing, very interesting

thanks for the tip!
You're amazing thank you for sharing this amazing video. ❤️
You are so welcome!
Nice. I have desgined in Power Point. But now i will use figma inestad :)
good decision haha
Love it! Thanks man
Thanks man... really liking your content
any advice about wich courses do to learn power bi and have a performance like you?. thanks in advanced
Excellent tutorial video, thanks. I always export my Figma backgrounds as SVG. You export it as PNG. Which is better to use for Power BI?

Thanks a million 🌺
Hi,
Thank you for the video, it's quite helpful.
Could you please share the link of your shirt if it's possible? :)
haha I bought it in zara. I dont know how to find it online
Excellent Tutorial! Though when I attempt to do the Transparent Color as a measure and set it on the button, it doesn't seem to work though, did something change within PowerBI?
Thanks! Maybe you have an older Power BI version? It doesn't work in older versions. Otherwise I would need more info. I use it all the time
Was waiting for this thanks man
Thank you for sharing. Can the same concept be used for Tableau?
I dont use tableau but Im sure it works the same way with image and background export

Do you have to consider different screen sizes? What about mobile? Thanks!
Yes you have to build different layouts for different displays. You can build responsive layouts in Figma but you cant implement them in Power BI.
Great video! You think it'd be possible to create a UI kit from figma and implement it in a Power BI to share designs with Power BI devs?
I'm not sure if I understand your question. You mean to create a universal UI kit in Figma which you can use with different dashboards?
@Your Own KPI I want to generate a sort of component library to implement within Power BI and then developers can copy/paste those components for their projects.
@@yourownkpi the problem I have is we are working with a huge project and we need to generate consistency acrooss the whole application.
Im sure it's possible but I have never done it before. I added the topic to my future videos :)

This looks really nice, but definitely not for persons with high reports turnover.

How do you take the power bi screenshot?
I use microsoft's snip & sketch tool
dude, A person who is knowledgeable in power bi would have done exactly he same using the IDE of power bi in less time haha. still thanks!
haha yes it's nothing too fancy here. It is more about to get to know the basic functionalities of Figma

You have a point :D Looking back at it, it's not the greatest design. I learned a lot since so maybe time to do a new tutorial.
