Amazing video. I've been playing Moodyman tracks since the 90s and this is the first time I've heard him speak. "I can't kick this feeling"....." shades of Jae".
saw him in london, paris, brussles, antwerpen and germany. if u have the chance to see a gig of him, go for it. KENNY IS A LEGEND 🙌🏻 cant wait for new material
I've always been a massive fan of his. For me, the persona isn't as important as the music he makes, which after all these years is still totally unique, but the persona is very much part of the package for Moodymann. Whatever about the authenticity of playing vinyl or living in Detroit, the cleverness of his sampling and the atmosphere of his music is truly original, having been to Detroit his records really embed the rhythm and culture of that city. On the minus side, I don't think it's fair to "demystify" someone in just over six minutes, but I enjoyed it as a piece of film.
Nice unraveling, guys. Moodymann is a genius, but this is garbage. He has a "powerful sense of authenticity" because he plays vinyl and uses an MPC to create music? Get an MPC and some vinyls and move to Detroit and you can be authentic too.
yeah, whatever. authenticity is revealed by your own damn sound, which you can create by using whatever the fuck you want. if RA's description will inspire kids to get off beatport, so be it.
One of my favorite DJs ever he has a very unique style of his own and also excellent DJ aswell.
No one else does it like him. He’s the best.
I was in the Greenhouse at Dekmantel for that set! One of the happiest hours of my life
