That happened to my husband. The Dasher walked into the lobby of the hotel and called out my husband’s name and another guy stood up and said “that’s me” and took his food. Now that I’m a Dasher I always make sure to ask the name of the customer before handing it over.

This is great advice. I’ve called the numbers customers leave in the notes a few times but never thought about them trying to scam me by calling back as support. Definitely going to remember that!
Maybe it's all in my head, but when I see someone looking at their phone, then me or the car, and start approaching me (or signalling me) with hungry eyes we've made that subconscious connection.
I’ve been doing for a bit and I’ve never had food stolen. Nor do I think it’s a huge concern. It’s pretty easy to spot the right person because they’re looking at their phone and then in your direction as their app is tracking you. Many times they will say my name first.
Same here. Also we drive unmarked cars so how would someone know I was delivering food, and not serving papers on someone?

I made the mistake when I said their name, and the person said that's who they were, and the customer called me asking where their order was. Now I ask them their name and I give them their order. Actually, a guy told me I was the first person to ask his name. l dodged a bullet another time when I asked the name and it wasn't the customer.
Door dash support will NEVER CALL you first. So, if they do, it's always a scammer.

I have made the mistake of forgetting half a person's order . After giving them their taco bell sack I forget their box in my pizza bag and had to remember their address to go back and give it to them
Oh man that feeling when you realize you still have some food is like your stomach dropping. I've forgotten a drink in my car and didn't realize till I was way to far from the customer 🙃

I just recently (this past weekend) was on my 1000ths Delivery and figured I would print out a nice note and cover the food cost for the person that was my 100ths delivery. I also 3 D printed a flexible shark so that I could place the money and note in the sharks mouth with the order. Got to the location to drop off . Grabbed the order and the other items (shark, money, note) ,but not the customers drink. Aggh! Took the picture within the app and submitted it and saw someone coming so I could not even take a personal picture on my smartphone as I wanted to be "stealth". Drove off and on my next pickup there was the drink in the back seat cup holder. Has to drive back real quick and drop off the drink. Texted the customer through the app that the drink was there now. I received 0 ZERO communication from the customer. Not even a thank you or anything. Some people :(
i have gotten that message a couple of times, to call so number, always say, NO, I message thru the app, all will stay documented
I like to say “You are?” What’s funny is when they give me a different name and I keep them going till they get it right! I never call those numbers, don’t share your number
I actually googled if I should contact the customer from my personal number when I first started and luckily there was a forum about it that said only contact through the app. Prob at least once a week someone has their number in the notes to call or text upon arrival.
Yes I see it often but this us the first time I've done it, I will never do it again because I know better.
I never called numbers with my personal number neva eva eva, always communicate through app PERIOD!
If you can't get your dash app to take a picture of the food there take your own instead.

I left the wrong order at a door and marked complete and drove off. Realized my mistake a quarter mile later, went back and met the confused customer at the door and sheepishly swapped for the correct order.

I delivered to a university and three separate people came to me asking me to give them their food. I asked them their names and where they ordered food from . None of these thee people could answer both of my questions correctly so I went back to my car and rang the customer. I asked the customer what he was colour top he was wearing so that I could narrow him down and eventually, I got the right customer. He told me where he ordered his food from and his name. It’s always better to have a separate phone for working. Keep all invoices relating to the separate phone and give them to your accountant and they will go towards your tax return as it is a tool for work

Greetings. I actually like the longer videos because there are more orders to pick up assuming you’re having an excellent experience picking up orders. I listen to these videos when they become available and I find them to be very enlightening and it is excellent to hear how the process works from a drivers perspective. Please keep up the long videos as I said, I find them very enlightening and I like all the chat between the orders and I feel that you should leave things as they currently are.
Many RUclips content creators give name first. The best proof is continuous video of your cell phone showing final destination map app location and every verification action there after, i.e., physical home street address number, the walk up to door, customer name first.
Last night I messaged a picture of the order in front of their door thru door dash to a hand it to me order and the customer messaged back yes.
I always ask a name first, but sometimes the person whose account it was ordered from doesn't match the person Im handing it to, so I ask, would it be under another name? Then they get it right. It's usually a family member.

Anytime I’m doing to DoorDash or Uber eats and I get those random calls I don’t even answer I don’t care if it really is DD or the customer trying to get a hold of me but they can message me in the app is how I see it if they really needed to communicate with me.
I like longer ones. I don't know about the rest of the people.

Yeah thats just always been my NUMBER 1 RULE if they list their personal number to say call this number its suspicious in general when there already is the option to call the customer through the app's line for safety measures. It is too much of a Big Hassle to have to change your personal Line or have a secondary line just for Business purposes and if there leads to issues due to not being able to contact Customer then just handle it through support to either cancel the order due to the customer being unavailable to accept the order if they can't be contacted if there leads to an issue with finding their location

If you’re going to a hospital or a school, a large factory, whatever the case may be text the customer well in advance and ask them what area they will be waiting in.
I see a lot of gig tubers say the name first. And I’m always thinking there’s a way to ask so they tell you without feeling like you’re insinuating they could be a thief. A lot of times neighbors. A few houses away are getting deliveries. So I would just say just wanted to make sure this was your order and not a neighbors who is also waiting on an order or something to that effect. But I never even noticed you doing it. 😂 at least that I recall.

Lol!!!! is not my job to communicate to the customers when the restaurant doesn't have what the customer requested that's between the restaurant UE/DD I don't get paid enough to think or resolve the customers issues.
That happened to me before as well!
I got two phones..if someone takes too long to respond..i could be heartless and just cancel or i could call the suggested number innthe notes. Ill block it afterwards anyway
