I'm fifty four years old, this took me back thirty five years to when I was in the Navy and Royal Marines were training us on Dartmoor. Their language was a little more fruity though!

Can you remember what you cooked?

@@letsgetoutc.i.c Rat packs were a little different back then! I remember tinned bacon, "Baby''s heads" wich were steak and kidney puddings and lovely, powdered eggs, apple flakes to put in your porridge and horrible powdered drinks. The 24 hour pack also contained a grand total of four sheets of toilet paper!

@@letsgetoutc.i.c Luckily whatever they put in the rat packs mean't I didnt actually need to use them. However, all of us spent some considerable time on the loo back at BRNC!

Why gas and not alcohol burner!

We much prefer gas over alcohol/meths. Much safer when young people are using it, you can hear and see the flame better, and you know when it's out.
