  • Once again 55022 Royal Scots Grey takes charge of another set of 334 Emu drags between Yoker CS and Kilmarnock Bonnyton works.
I must apologise for the blurred images on the return clips. My present camcorder cannot handle low light conditions very well. I have done my best to edit out the really awful bits and employed all the usual tricks to minimise the blurred images but its not pleasing to me but I will soon have a top class camcorder which gives excellent results in low light conditions, so roll on Christmas!
On the inward run, the unit was 334020 rumoured to be having
wi-fi fitted, and 334018 was the unit on the return trip.
The Deltic put on the usual good show of power, roar and clag and is always worth turning out for! Once the 334 contract is finished the Deltic will be going into Bonnyton works for a full repaint so watch this space for developments!
    Enjoy!

For such a well made video with perfect sound quality; it was well worth downloading.
I will check out your other work!

Subscription material right here. Oh my lord the sounds...the trash! This did the Glasgow to Shields runs last year (aliased as 55003, then 55007) and everytime it was comin through my local at Springburn I thought "Is he gonna slow down?". Great loco and great shots...

Fantastic coverage of the Deltic movements around Kilmarnock Station Ken and the occasional blurring didn't spoil the viewing to any great degree. I still can't believe we have a Deltic doing a scheduled run on our rail network. It would have been unthinkable a few years back. Very enjoyable viewing and you guys up there have done a great job in providing us with great videos and photos of the Deltic/Unit movements over the year or so. Well done! Regards - Allan.

Thanks very much Allan, for your kind and encouraging comments! I know what you mean, as I have to pinch myself every time I see her carrying out these runs! I understand that most of the unit repsints have been done now, but that the fitting of wi-fi to the 334s is now being done. Best wishes, Ken

I think it's great to see a Deltic on mainline duties but has the situation become so bad that the rail companies have so few locomotives that they have to hire a Deltic to do shunting work. I suppose that the government screws so much money out of the for the contracts that they have to count every penny and occasionally hire one of our greatest railway icons to push a few trucks around. Just doesn't seem appropriate.

Certainly a lot of truth in what you say Martin, although I have to say I wasn't complaining at the time! Cheers. Ken

Well, how shall I say it?
Welcome to the world of idiots who decided it was best to break up British Rail and share the whole network among friends.
Did it get better, cheaper, safer?
      No.
But it gave room to introduce foreign rail companies, kill of the coach and loco building companies, repair and maintenance companies, and most of all give the CEO's a healthy view the n unrealistic salaries and bonus schemes.

Amazingly rare images of a Deltic on what is already an unusual working Ken....the clips at Dusk were very good, but after Father Christmas has called, the results will be stunning...Best wishes...Bob

Thanks Bill, I'm looking forward to getting the new one, but the existing one gives excellent results in normal daylight conditions for a relatively low cost can. However its now time to upgrade so thanks for viewing and your kind comments. Ken

Really well presented video of a great loco. I suppose at these speeds you can really appreciate the loco details more.

I got a video of this engine a few years ago working at the old eastfield depot in the north of Glasgow and it was the first time I had seen one so was well pleased. those deltic engine's don't half throw out some amount of oil going by the side of the loco, they must have to top them up on a regular basis or they would probably end up seizing.

Thanks for your comment Bob, much appreciated. I am subscribed to a free Yahoo reporting website called Scotland-rail.co.UK and that's where I get most of my info. There are other sites and sources of info as well. Hope you catch her next time she's in town.

Give the train a wash will you? It's showing its age again. Stupid private rail company.
