Construction is a hilariously outdated skill, but unlike some other similar skills (Firemaking), it's very complex with a lot of old code built on top of old code.
In OSRS they decided very early on to revamp the back-end systems of construction - they even said in Q&As that this was a LOT of work, and that it was a "now or never" situation. But because they did it early on, it paid dividends later in the form it being among the most useful skills in that version and having QoL features that are missing from RS3 (rearranging and rotating rooms for one). Having a good POH is an excellent investment in that version, as it had many additions that help with PvM, teleports and other skills.
Fort Forinthry is interesting because it was a way - IMO an experiment - to make Construction useful, but by completely bypassing the POH and breaking with the old convention of it being a pure money-sink skill (since you make your own planks in the Fort), which opened a lot of new design space for them to work with. Before Fort, it was unheard of to get anything Construction-related from quests, but now that the skill doesn't need to be a money sink nor mess with the POH code, they can work more updates around Construction. Really looking forward to see what they have planned for 110 Construction.

You've also got the additional factor, as highlighted in rswillmissit's video on the Falador Massacre, that they've got to keep that bug from 2006 kept buried and not allowed to resurface, might add to the reason why they've not touched PoHs.

    • @victorvVerce
      @victorvVerce 6 месяцев назад

@@malicekooper Useful things from PoH, that's why PoH should be reworked.. or just > War hub = combat hub, Fort = main skilling hub, Skill guild for every single skill + PoH as your own house but connected to the fort & skill guilds.
To explain my concept in short and clean and understandable as possible :
Skill Guilds (imo) should be the main building to understand the skill, having a tutor, 99 master, 120 master in it. Many locations (kingdoms & areas) will have 1-2 guilds in it. Guilds will need attention from the very start, but will get more interesting, complex, challenging, ... the further and higher you get.
PoH will be the main hub as a personal hub (could be a PoH II in made from scratch and at the end remove PoH I, or so). A huge Portal Room where a portal to the Fort is placed. Just like the Portal Room, the Fort will also have some options to create portals to your chosen guild for a specific skill or skills. The main center, where you have to invent, work alone, work with the community, work with npc's, ...
About the skill guilds, you can also upgrade & modify them just like the buildings in your Fort. Unlock passive boosts, permanent/temporary, ... Choose what items you will place in your Guild, for certain effects, combo's, etc.
Somehow similar like the (removed) osrs Kourend favour system, working in the Fort or in the skill guild will increase a personal and a community bar. Both bars will drop if nobody is focusing and so losing specific other unlocks. Unlike the Kourends system, you can't and shouldn't have the possibility to just farm 1 activity to get 100% > 100% will be slow to get, and the tutor, masters, can ask you certain tasks / spotlight certain activity in some specific area.
Spotlighting could highlight some area which could be lower level and so xp > BUT will increase rate, resources, ... you need top upgrade and upkeep your guild, like the clan citadel. Also using older content and making the player visit 'dead' areas.
Let's say you want to build a Slayer Guild > you will possible need stone, .. but this could be a ruin or a not released guild through a quest or so. Another example is a Woodcutting, which could make use of crafting, fletching, fm and wc skills to improve and upgrade. Resources can be found nearby. Smithing could make use of construction, mining, crafting to build the guild.
So Guilds will need attention of other skills to improve and so need money, resources from any tier and amount. Some upkeep system and the personal/community bar which will drop if you are not focusing on (like Managing Miscellania) could make it more interesting, interactive and much more.
At the end for this rough concept (have some documents I made), you can add and improve and so focus on a specific skill and/or the guild, which could also benefit or improve the guild system.
      Cooking Guild - Varrock
Woodcutting Guild - Lost Grove (in Kourend in osrs)
      ...

Doing awful runs for runecrafting entertaining? Dont kid yourself; runescape grind has never been fun or entertaining. But it is relaxing, and nice to do while occupied with something else. The Jagex announcing the plans to take skills up to official 110 and eventually 120 all years down the line it would be cool to see a video talking about what skills you should be focusing on and what could be ignored. People who plan to do something like 120 all have to think about what to prioritize first but if some things are going to be made easier by the inclusion of new methods going up to 110 then things like agility, crafting, fishing, or cooking could be ignored until they have better methods (at least for irons). Hearing your idea of what skills could really use the better methods up to 120 would be a good video for Jagex to get some ideas and context for what needs improvements. For example if you factor all of the time it takes to get dragon stones, energy, gold, make necklaces, make porters, then use those porters to catch fish and manually cook, cooking on an iron is like under 70k xp/h in total. This means your best method would likely be to afk fish with bait and switch and have the shark outfit consume fish which is similar xp. At least for irons cooking could REALLY benefit from a self contained new method going up to 110. This is of course iron focused and I know you don't like focusing on that but with group iron coming out by the end of the year making more videos with an iron focus could benefit the channel as people will be searching for iron guides a LOT more.

    • @LegDayLas
      @LegDayLas 6 месяцев назад

Well if you are a main just prioritize all the Artisan skills, those are the ones that will give usable rewards outside of the skill. Gathering skills almost always serve no purpose other than to provide resources for the useful skill.
Take the mining and smithing rework, and the herblore/farming rework.
Farming doesn't give you anything useful outside of herblore. Mining doesn't give you anything useful outside of smithing.
Irons however basically need to lvl gathering skills faster than artisan just to gather the resources.

Construction is the most in need of modernising like the POH etc.
But Theiving is in need of new content / a rework the most. That may be controversial, let me explain, theiving is well implemented, and funner than DUNG / AGIL but it has no gameplay effect at all. Safecracking is just for pilfer points and gp, and pickpocketing is just for sellables. If you want more gp/hr you can afk slayer or something. I know its a easy source and or a good way for low level players to get money, but its only for members and also you don't really make money till prif etc. It could be good for f2ps, but most high money items it gives are members only area / item related, making them have to rework so much to accomodate. The next biggest issue is the lack of synergy between theiving and other skills. FM + WC + FSH gives easy food, SMTH + MIN gives melee gear etc, theiving is the only one without synergy. Hunter is close, but again you get an agility bonus and even then you get unique rewards, like skillchompas and pets.
This would be my pipe-dream idea to rework it, it would be to create a new combat skill, that is "Assassin" or "Ninja" type and then theving can improve your stealth or create your sneaky armour etc. Then this would link it to another skill and make it have some synergy. Again i know it would never happen, even if it did it wouldnt before 15+ years, but this is just my silly little idea. No idea why I went on a tangent about Theiving, but thank you to anyone who read my dumb TedTalk. xD

How is Construction a joke now? And you didnt even say construction is a joke in the video, or why it's bad currently. Click baity title..
It seems there's a lack of historical knowledge as to WHY construction exists to begin with, and why in RS3 it's a "joke". Construction was originally a money sink skill for rich folks in RS 2006 to encourage circulation of the economy, and add more utility to certain items. It would revolve around PoH, and the only benefit was the teleports and prayer altar.
Fast forward to before the fort update, where you have this pointless skill meant for money sink, yet quests require this seemingly 'optional' skill. Especially for Ironmen, they'd have to farm up tons of gold just to sink it into construction.
Introduce the fort, which has gave Construction more relevant utility, makes it easy to get into, ans haa a perfect balance of AFK/Active Grind for how little the skill brings. Couple that with fort benefits and buffs, and it's a relaxing skill to train.
The issue is, they forgot to change the XP rates for PoH to match PoF, especially with how drastic the training methods are. But this waa the first step in modernizing construction, and honestly I like PoF over PoH. PoH should still exist for folks who want to customize a house and socialize, but by no means should it be necessary to train the skill and get benefits.
However, PoH should yield more XP given how much of a money sink it is, and how more intensive it is in terms of training.
The title should really say "PoH needs a rework", and reflect these construction rates and lack of PoH usage as reasons why. As an Ironman, Im glad Construction is the way it is, because in OSRS training construction is awful, and you only gain benefits from the altar, which takes high level construction. Im not gunna waste money and resources making goddamn toy horses.

A way to make construction training fun, have a 'hoard mode' where waves of enemies are attacking the fort, team members are constantly repairing the fort and reinforcing. The higher the waves the more loot, every 10th wave is a boss.
Could maybe include cannons, clan war chest, queuing would be at Fort Forinthy. Better materials equals better fortification and the sky could be the limit on this.

Construction is the best it's been.
Ever since it came out construction was a log sink from woodcutting with planks and a money sink with things like marble and gold leaves.
That's the only purpose the skill had, with the only worthwhile rewards being prayer training, cheaper equipment repair, and endless teleports - which are no longer needed thanks to lodestones.
All you really need is the prawnbroker and the armor stand. Altar hasn't been relevant since chaos altar gave the same buff and even more so when the wilderness was nerfed to no pvp and no threat system.
Don't know why people have to defend and gatekeep finger breaking.

Cons is a skill with so much potential with the POH. Look at OSRS for example. Lodestones (basically all teleports) plus Wars Retreat basically is the POH. It is too late to shift all this into the POH I think but they really should rework it and make it useful, be it for whatever. Or you need to unlock things in the POH to use Wars Retreat etc properly. Although that might not be the right approach. The POH in RS3 is so outdated, you cant even shift built rooms and have to tear them down and build them new to do so. Please Jagex, rework the POH.

Seems the game must revolve around optimal xp/hour or there will be riots
Never used the method of removing/constructing furniture and used flatpacks instead, mainly due to golden rocks. Not sure why anyone sane enough would be doing this for 'xp gains™'
Had the benefit of the beach/bandos and armadyl world event to train free xp construction
If i remeber correctly someone said the fort brought a construction rework, which it is not

And osrs is "nothing profitable for anyone but pvpers and no lifers"
I can make 150m an hour on rs3 and swap that for 10m osrs gp (roughly). Which is better than all but the top 2 osrs money makers.
I can do a method for 1/4 of that and STILL come out better swapping than grinding out the gp on osrs.
**why** would I ever want to spend 140 hours on something that's meant to be a hurdle, not gameplay?

OSRS’s PoH additions were almost entirely things RS3 already had, and a lot of them worse than the RS3 variants.
Meanwhile yes the Fort has numerous rewards tied to it, like a staggering amount. New slayer master and mobs, new T80 hatchet, Vorkath, improved bird nest loot, permanent increase to your slayer damage, a chance for you to instantly kill your slayer tasks, increased output when fletching there, a bunch of things condensed into one location most of which are RS3 unique but one thing that is understandable to an OSRS player is the ability to pay gp to hold your misc favor at 100%, and then also just a bunch of other convenient training spots and stuff again unique to RS3 like a ritual site for the necromancy skill.

The next graphical update should be for the trees, It's hard to look at them in the current state they're in, they all look pixilated, I want high quality trees, I would also like a day and night cycle and weather. I know not all of the trees are like that, but I can only zoom out so far before everything looks tiny. I'm also aware of the fact that having a day and night cycle plus a weather system might be asking too much, it would just make skilling a bit more interesting in my opinion, it would be nice to see the leaves rustle in the wind and the trees swaying when there's huge gusts of wind. It would be really cool if we had something similar to the weather channel with weather news for rs3, I feel like the game doesn't really have any life to it anymore, everything is all static, and our characters lack personality, and even the NPCs for that matter. I don't know, I could be bitching but really all I'm trying to do is give Jagex some new ideas to breathe more life into the game, make the world in rs3 feel real. Like when you cut down a tree, there should be an animation for it falling over and the branches bending and breaking and the leaves falling off, just wish this game had more of those things.
