Very very reliable its the same engine (almost) as a 2006 cls 55 amg BUTT the cls 55 amg has supercharger and the 55 amg engine is upgraded with stronger parts like connecting rods ect..
@@analgeneral7804 nope 2006 cls 500 with 5.0L is 302hp and cls 500 only made in 2006 and stated on cls 500 brochure stated 0-60 5.9 seconds Cls 550 2007-2011 is 382hp with a v8 5.5L and stated on cls 550 brochure stated 0-60 5.4 seconds BUTT in every cls 550 brochure from 2007-2011 there's always added est next to the 5.4 time
@@dimademochkin3028 I am in UK and I have the W219 2009 CLS 63 AMG with the M156 6.2 v8, I have the same brochure and for the CLS 500 it states it is 5461cc which is a 5.5 v8 with 388 BHP. I know that the earlier 2000 - 2006 "500" Mercedes models all used the 5.0 v8 M113 engine as my mum has a 2003 W211 E500 with this engine and the newer 7 speed transmission, It is very smooth and quite fast for only 302 BHP, but it is not quite as fast as the CLS 500 in this video. The 0-60 mph time for my mum's E500 is shown as 6.0sec in the 2003 E class brochure but feels faster ! The newer revised face lift 2006 - 2009 W211 E500 has the newer 5.5 v8 (5461cc M273 engine) and in that car it is also 388 BHP like the later CLS 500 and the 0-60mph time is quoted at 5.2 sec which seems similar to this CLS 500 in this video which would be approx 5.4 sec. Of course the USA didn't get the "500" 5.5 v8 models they got the "550" with the 5.5 v8 - which is essentially the same car.... It is all to do with marketing purposes... A quick google for the 2004-2006 W219 CLS 500 5.0 states this car does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds but depending on the year and whether this engine is fitted to the older 5 speed or the newer 7 speed transmission the 0-60 time can be as low as 5.8 seconds ! All 5.0 M113's have 24 valves and twin cams and they all have 16 spark plugs - Yes !, 16 !! All 5.5 M273's have 32 valves and quad cams and they all have 8 spark plugs.

@@dimademochkin3028 This seems a bit too fast for the older m113 5.0 306 BHP 24 valve V8.... I reckon it is the newer M273 5.5 32 valve V8 which is approx 380 + BHP....
@@ninomb1137 The older M113 still had 302 BHP and 339 LBS of torque which still good for 0-60 mph in just over 6 sec and a top speed of 155mph in the W219 CLS, 0-60 mph in 6.1 sec is not slow ! the newer 5.5 M273 has 388 BHP and 391 LBS of torque and in the W219 CLS does 0-60 mph in 5.4 sec and still 155mph so in the REAL world they are not that far apart really...

Warm up tyres, look for good road, deactivate ESP and learn how to use throttle.
