Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words. It means a lot to me that you think my waistband and zipper look professional. The next one I did is even better!
Kudos for the lining and floating hem! In time you'll learn how to do invisible tiny hand stitches if that is what you want to do. I don't watch much TV or do anything else in the winter, so sewing is my entertainment. I'e rarely had an issue with lengths from various fabrics, but have almost always gone 2-3 inches longer. Sometimes stashes sit around for over 10 years and then the perfect project comes up. If my main motivation is a skirt or pants, I can do a matching vest or jacket with 5 yards. OR make something totally different stylistically and add it to my wardrobe.
I'm definitely working on my invisible tiny hand stitches. Sewing really is the perfect winter activity, it keeps me busy and entertained while I stay warm indoors.
@@NoraMurrell I do the near invisible hand stitches because I get bored and am always struggling to find things to do. I live on disability so money is tight. I do love to sew new things.
It's always inspiring to see your sewing journey, and that fact that you are self taught is really impressive. One tiny correction, if I may. Pronounce the name of your waistband ribbon "grow grain". The "s" is silent.
Dream skirt and you look fabulous in it, so pretty, when I make myself a skirt this is what I want. ❤. Wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy new year from England ❤
Your skirt turned out beautifully. I have the Claire Schaffer book but have never used it hahaha! I've dragged it off the shelf after watching this video though ..... the silk/satin shirt you're wearing is beautiful too. Did you make that? If you did, do you mind sharing the pattern? I'm looking for the perfect shirt pattern.
Gorgeous fit!! I also like your suggestion of giving oneself a curriculum if one is self-taught. I keep making random stuff here and there with no rhyme or reason (other than thinking the garment is cute or a fun pattern drafting to try out). I think I'll try to lay out a nice little curriculum for myself so I can feel like I'm actually learning in a cohesive manner!
I am finding myself more content and feeling more confident in what I'm accomplishing when I started doing projects to skill build AND to build my wardrobe. I very much want to move back into dresses, but, I'm not there yet. I will be. But when my skills say so.

It's my new favorite piece and I'm thrilled you think it looks great! 😊
That skirt is so pretty. I never actually tried lining the waistband before but that’s pretty cool
I don't think I'll ever do a waistband differently. This is crazy luxury.

❤❤❤❤It is soo good it glides and flows like butter
It's so nice to wear, ridiculous luxury. I'm going to be silk lining far more.

Totally corrected myself in my next skirt video. Thank you, this rolls off the tongue so much better.
Top class video, as always. Love the skirt. I'm a bit late, but I hope you had a lovely Chanukah ❤❤❤
