    Don't be a petroleum engineer. It's great when the price is high, yeah. But all those motherfucking companies treat you like a number as soon as the prices drop. There's no loyalty in the O&G industry. Everyone is like a hired mercenary. You can make some good money, but if you can't handle the turbulent market, don't do it.
    Go be a mechanical engineer or a chemical engineer.

      You can work in oil and gas with a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree too, plus you can transition to other industries, can’t say the same for PE

      You mean the classic question of working for a service company (Halliburton) vs. an operator (Chevron)? Just confirming (with examples).
