I've been putting this one off for a while. Why did I ever do it? This map is definitely the star of Company of Heroes. With its 8 bridges, there are so many tactical options.

It's good, it slows down progress. Also for computers, they are OP on open maps.
It's not fair, Germans can destroy it with one shot while allies need more than 3 to 4 barrages to destroy it.

the map is quite in favor for the wehrmacht. it's too easy for them to quickly destroy a bridge. and they also got better arty + given the fact that the amis can't build their howitzers far enough in the back to be save =P
There's definitely a small window of opportunity the allies can benefit from but I would concede that it is a marginal one

A few of the small number of matches that I've played of CoH was on a stupid bridge map. They had a tank trap on their foot bridge like 30 seconds into the game and they won the game because because my team couldn't flank across the foot bridge or break through the one other way onto the island. I think it's kind of stupid that you can effectively lose on a bridge map within the first minute or so.

This map just has a massive WW1 vibe, loads of men dying in choke points, with constant artillery bombarding the other side, especially if you're playing Brits because you can build a load of slit trenches to make the WW1 feel even bigger
Damn, Americans should have fought harder in the 1st battle on the left island, fired up his paras etc. Then they could have contested middle using troops and stunted the arty production by the Jerry's.
Krebs or anyone else. How do I counter the Wehrmacht in maps like Achelous River and other "bridgy" maps? The walking stukas and the nebelwerfers crushes everything and all the bridges.
Played this map a few days ago on aniahlate or how ever its spelled and it ended with everyone quiting after 2 and a half hours of artillery shooting back and forth.

How is this the best map? The allies don't stand a chance on this map. It's an unbalanced map for noobs

-ECLee- shouldve spammed his *Paratroopers* and *Paradrop AT Gun* in the middle islands.
It wouldve been a great counter to the Nebelwerfers and Stukas.
2-3 AT GUNS at the middle island, would prevent any Axis vehicles and allowed his Engineers to repair the foot bridges so he can move snipers across.
lol no, fuck this map. i playing anni on this map is the definition of struggle and tiring gameplay. my last game played on this map lasted for 90 minutes before finally ending.

Kevin Toma At some point you're not playing COH anymore. it becomes a game of endurance, see who leaves the match first.
Destoffeldv my longest game was about 5 hours online, no one left the game before victory.
The problem is the concentration after 2 hours playing straight, but it was still fun!
When are Relic going to remove this map? More important, why do allies play on this map :D

One of the maps where an enginier squad can one shot a King Tiger, also Brits are fucked on this map cuz they have 2 get the 2nd truck for sappers to be able to repair the bridges this giving plenty of time for Axis to get whatever they want on the middle bridges, also Goliaths are very OP on this map because of the destroyable bridges
this map is the equivalent of landing on Normandy Beach, what a disgusting map.
me and my mate were best on this map. noone would counter our sdkfz halftrack napalm spams. we wont let them repair bridge. we controlled everything on map. after all these years i still remember our tactics and timings.

Noob question: why build tank traps on the narrow footbridge? It's too small for a vehicle anyway isn't it, and tank traps don't stop infantry. I know there must be a good reason; I just don't know what that reason would be.
Because it actually blocks infantry 'cos the bridge is so narrow.
