Radek Bekieler - For Gabriel (feat. Alicia Du Coustel) : Rav & Harp

This tune revealed itself one of the evenings, when I visited my friend, Natalia and helped to put her son, Gabriel to bed. I started improvising on RAV Drum as usual and after few minutes I realized, I actually had a musical lullaby and I just called it - For Gabriel. He fallen asleep.. I have just met him that day and despite his condition, I found him to be amazing and just as any other human being, I felt that he deserved to be healthy, strong and happy.
During my travel to the Griasdi Festival in Austria in 2017, I have met a wonderful person, an amazing musician - Alicia Du Coustel and we jammed a little on my tune. With the help of other great people we have met, we had the opportunity to record a video. With Alicia’s beautiful melodies on harp, the lullaby became just so lovely.
My first idea with the video was to help Natalia to get in contact with other people in the world, who also have a child with west syndrome or to find different ways for treatment. Unfortunately, Gabriel suddenly died in 2018 on his way to school, before I managed to share this music video... For long time I could not really finish it all, but now, two years after Gabriel went into another dimension, I finally send the music to the Universe as a memorial for Gabriel. I hope this time he will not fall asleep, but he will smile and dance his new, healthy and strong body through this tune, wherever he is now.

I want to to say thank You to: Alicia Du Coustel for Your spontaneity, sensitivity, joyful energy and an amazing musical input, Stefan Kronsteiner for such a great hospitality in wonderful place in Austrian mountains, Nikola Khandro for Your warm heart and filming, André Lehner for organising the trip to the mountains and Your lightfull presence. Most of all I thank You, Gabriel, for Your amazing presence and big inspiration and to Natalia and Kristian, the parents for allowing me to make this project.
We know epilepsy mostly as a syndrome with unexpected seizures of shaking and loss of awareness, but there are many different types of it and most of us cannot even imagine how challenging life can become, when Your child or other family member become handicapped.
Gabriel, soon after a difficult childbirth, experienced breathing issues. Later he had to go through several treatments. For long time it was not clear, but at the age of 8 months Gabriel was diagnosed with 'west syndrome'. In Denmark, 3 - 5 out of 10 000 gets that syndrome (more boys than girls).
