Vzakeini had the merit of helping the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor give birth to the next generation. We videoed Mr. Irving Light as he held his great-granddaughter. The feeling of survival and grit, of past and future, was hard to capture.
Mr. Irving Light was born in 1920 in the town of Stanislawow, Poland. He lived through unimaginable destruction. Today, his legacy is his grandaughter Elke and his little miracle great-granddaughter.
This is a story of our survival then, and of Jewish continuity today.

Oiy, it is the 9th of Av in Israel. I was dozing, and I heard a voice with an accent......just like my papa, my he rest in peace. With all of the pain that your great grandfather went through, his joy and middot tovot shine through. You brought me a gift this day, a voice and personality like my dear papa. May you have many many many memories together. I have to watch this again

Growing up, I knew many refugees and survivors from the Holocaust. Many were in my own family. Unfortunately, few of these witnesses are still with us. That's why recorded testimonies as these are so important. We must not stop talking and learning about the Holocaust. The victims must survive in our memories.
