    Yak, great vlog of your first day on rotation. Your empathy for the patients was readily apparent and your ability to communicate your clinical experience is amazing.

    Hi Moose! Great vlog. You've become a professional vlogger. I really enjoy watching all of your vlogs because they are very interesting and well done... kind of like watching a great movie that you wish would never end :) I'm so proud of you and everything you have accomplished so far, and just when I think I can't be more proud of you than I already am... you surprise me and make me feel even prouder than I was before. Please continue making these vlogs because even though we are not in med school, you give everyone an excellent feeling and idea of what your day was like and we feel like we were right there with ya! YASHER KOACH!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

      Hi there! Happy to hear you’re interested in Georgetown. My general advice is to stay as genuine as possible on your application: make it personal, tell your story, and do lots of research on Georgetown and what it stands for. I would also be sure to have others read over your essays. Best of luck!

    How many rotations do you do and is it all in 3rd year... do you do anything else in 3rd/4th yr ie go to classes etc

    • @yakscience4937
      @yakscience4937  4 года назад +1

      Great question Mark! So in third year, we rotate in psychiatry, OBGYN, family medicine, pediatrics, neurology, surgery, surgical subspecialties, internal medicine, and several "selectives" where we choose fields that interest us. Then, in fourth year, the focus is more on your specialty of choice and you do more rotations in that field. In terms of classes, we have lecture a couple times per week briefly, but the vast majority of time is spent in clinic. Hope this helps!

      YakScience and you take exams and get graded on written exams as well as practical ie evaluations during rotations? Then MD degree after passing step1,2 and 3...? Are you allowed to take these tests again if you fail?Then after 4 yrs you need to do residency in your field and again get graded on exams or practical?

    • @yakscience4937
      @yakscience4937  4 года назад

      Yep, so during 3rd and 4th year you take a subject exam after each rotation, plus you’re evaluated each day by your preceptor/attending physician based on performance, etc. Step 1 is taken before starting clinicals, step 2 is often taken towards the end of 3rd year or beginning of 4th, and step 3 is actually taken during residency. And yep exactly: 4 years to get the MD, and then residency in your desired field. You can also add fellowships to your training if you want to specialize further within a field

    Now if you could only learn to relax and make a vlog about a med school student's day off with tennis, dinner with friends, some games and a movie. You are working too hard. It's just a med school, which should be like a walk in a park for you :-).

    • @yakscience4937

      Haha thanks Papa! I could use some relaxation at this point, that's for sure! Maybe a future vlog will be about what I do to relax. That's a good suggestion!
