- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Solaris Showdown" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

Fresh off a successful mission on the notorious Mercenary Star, Mason and crew journey to the Hardcore system where they collide with 'Mech pilot Duncan Fisher embarking on a quest to secure a spot in the FedCom Unification Tournament. Forming an unlikely alliance, Mason and Fisher traverse the shadows of Solaris, engage in harrowing 'Mech duels, and race against the clock to save the day - a true Solaris Showdown.
Join Duncan Fisher in a race against time to thwart the overthrow of the Solaris Council, discover the new Loader King 'Mech, select new weapons and equipment tailored for close-quarter engagements, and help save the very future of Solaris.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

@@michaelbarnard8529 I keep thinking the same thing. I play on vanilla and my games are very different to his. You don't expect to come out alive if you take a light against a heavy. That said, I do enjoy Bara's videos but it confirms my choice of playing without YAML cause it just seems way too easy and no need to use other mechs if you can push each chassis that far.
@@TheChannel1978 In theory, it could be balanced by more enemy stuff being just as strong, like the occasional thunderbolt urbanmech. Pirate mechs sort of filled that niche, but once that hits the salvage table, you're back to square one if you take it. I've wanted to find a balance, since mods suggest a more interesting endgame than the inevitable XL heroic assault mech lance of vanilla. The line between 'challenging' and 'mathematically impossible' is hard to draw, though, and I do want to play with the strong stuff eventually.

Only a Steiner in an Urbie can defeat an Atlas. Meriks, we prefer our Riflemen. But many say there exists an Urbie pilot out there, with an accent, who seeks out the Atlas.

Nice build of the mechs. I don't think the Firestarter is as bad as you said. You put it in a mission up against assault mechs, when you had said previously that it wasn't heavily armoured.
Meanwhile, the Urbanmech continues to be the MVP of this lance, although the Crab has run it close in some missions. I think you should continue to run the Urbanmech until it does become unviable.
The last mission was a classic overmatch. You hammered the enemy the whole time and never looked to be under threat.
The Urbanmech really is your best mech right now. Which is hilarious and a meme in its own right😂
Do not split DP on multiple turrets. Try to upgrade 1 turret to the max level (tier3) because they have self repair ability more HP and firepower. When U upgrade 1st turret to max tier then go for next turret and so on. Sometimes U can get extra DP when U defend your turrets and it is easier to defend 1 or 2 tier 3 turrets than multiple low tier turrets.
I'll be excited to see more mechs and the new tech, but Urbie is never boring. 👍

Machineguns only do 50% damage to armor with YAML.

Been almost 2 years since I fired up MW5. Thinking it is time to mod the crap out of it and get back into it.

Remember that the Urbie has that Dan's armour boost item. If you moved that to the crab or some such, then it too would be god-like. But god-like is more fun on an Urbie!
He forgot the clan machine gun ammo.
And ton of AMS ammo. Keeps passing up dire needed components for parts of mechs to build WAY in the future...

The fights with the bigger mechs are showing the urbie's size problem. You need a bigger weapons platform soon.
I really feel like not having close-combat-melee-claws for the Crab is really a bad oversight!
I would swap parts to build the Clan Urbie and sell the other one

You're slowly outgrowing the Urbie. Solaris kinda made it dominate the early game (to the point there's just no reason to pick any other 'mech), but it can only get you so far.
the fire starter might be better if it had that 2x armor upgrade you gave the urbie

Has anyone come across a mission with a Fafnir named Peter, that will not take any damage whatso ever? It usually appears in assassination missions on the Draconis Combine.

His light mechs pack the punch of much heavier mechs due to YAML customization. If he moves to heavier YAML mechs the battles will go even quicker

did you ever play the original battletech tabletop game? the urbanmech in that was one of the most useless PoC in the game had a little armor an weapons but had the speed of a heavy mech and in the original you couldnt just put a bigger engine on thats why its hard for me to follow your choices it like you are intentionally trying to severely gimp yourself i know the videogame is different it just when you played the tabletop for so long its hard to change your path lol

I must say, I don't like the modded UrbanMechs. Neither as player nor as enemy mech. With all the OP quirks the 25t- trashcan can now tank and punch well into medium, perhaps even heavy mech territory - while easily being able to get mobility comparable to the squishy Spider, all just because strange preferential treatment due to their meme-status. On the other side, the game's enemy Mech distribution still seems to regard them as cheap, disposable "heavy mobile turret" - perimeter defense so that they appear very frequently while having all their disadvantages (and character) buffed out of them...case in point: 21:33 - three enemy Urbanmechs and Baradul's - seriously?
there is a mod that he isn't using that tones down the urbie mech bonus armor quirk and adds some variances to different chassis variants, Yet Another Revamped Quirks.
(minor point: urbie is a 30t mech)
@@cranberrysauce61 30t, you're right of course, sorry. And thanks for pointing out that rebalancing mod, that will be a given on my next playthrough, I think. I don't think that Baradul will inject that into his running campaign, especially since he depends so much on his urbanmech being the overall best option below 60t right now. But I'm just a passenger along for the ride there, so no sweat.
@@Kronholio yeah, i picked up that mod mostly because some variants become redundant with base YAML, so some variants are just a worse version of another. the urbie armor reduction was a bonus.
I don't like modded mechs when they are facing enemy mechs that aren't equally equipped. And that seems to be the case here (I'm new to mw5 so not sure, but feels like it)
