I had 3 surgeries in my groin. This is an EXTREMELY PAINFUL AND EMBARRASSING CONDITION. You can’t explain it to people because it isn’t well known. The pain during😅 a flare up is unbearable. I had them in my last 20s and early 30’s. I’m 42 and so far so good. I do think that another flare up in pending, usually pops up and disappears. But following the pattern, I have a feeling another is coming. I traveled to a Boaed Certified plastic surgeon in Frederick, Maryland who’s studied and developed a surgical method to combat the tunneling. It’s been almost at 10 years since the latest episode.

Right there with ya, but nobody would do the surgery for me. Instead they put me on Minocycline, which I have been on for four years, now. This last year I have been admitted to the hospital four times, twice for an interstitial lung disease, once for a liver issue, and once for blood clots. They have yet to give me a diagnosis for these issues, but from what I have been able to research myself, I believe it is drug-induced Lupus from the Minocycline.

  • @Cbbartelt

HS isn’t really cysts or boils. The flares are their own thing and cause tracking and they specifically surround the lymph nodes. As a result of tracking you could get them other places, but boils and cysts don’t do this.
It’s so disheartening to see so many dermatologists not actually understand the condition. People like me who have it shouldn’t have to read research and journals so we can understand because Dermatologists don’t.
For anyone who does have HS-I’m at the last stage with huge amounts of tracking and diet changes worked for me to make life livable until I had COVID. After COVID I was able to get in with a Derm who knows enough to get me treatment and I’m almost 1yr on Humira and it’s been life changing.

I had it since i was 16. Very painful at times. 2 surgeries under my arms i got cut on both sides. One of which i had to get done after having my newborn. My baby was only 2 months old and i had a c section 2 months prior to the surgery but i had no choice it flared so bad i couldnt even bare to put my arm down and my scars itch now so terribly it just started and it's trying to flare up again all this time later on top of the scars. (This is my bf account im under, but I'm speaking from my view as a woman) then i wasnt even able to get sewn back together because it was so much infection the cut was to wide to be put together so imagine cleaning a wide open hole where you can see the bone of where your arm and shoulder connect plus having to clean under your stomach too fresh surgery then take care of your baby too while your man works he helped as soon as he got off but those few hours were unbearable but also sweet because i just brought life to the world, but painful mostly because my under arm was sitting wide open and the smell when i lifted it, it smelled like a dead animal or something just raw flesh and blood. I lost some feeling in one of my arms and at times my hands and sometimes my whole arm gives out unexpectedly. I'll never forget that neither will i foreget how strong and brave i am to be able to endure two surgeries, swollen feet to the point i couldn't feel them but had pins and needles most of the time and could barely stand, and keep pushing to ensure my baby girl had everything she needed while her dad did everything to make sure we had everything we needed and provided for us both.

What worked for me is a simple two step: 10% benzol peroxide wash -germ therapy, wash whole body epecially hot spots like groin, rear, armputs, belly button, hair line, feet, etc. + whole body. This will stop new infection. Clindamycin phosphate -general antibacterial, apply over every affected area, even when not currently affected. Shower and do twice per day. You are going to need gobs of the perscription, as this is not just going on your face but large parts of the body. Body wash youll burn a tube a week.
The only time i have flair ups now is when i forget to do the above for a few weeks. Once under control, can taper back to once a day incorporated into your normal wash.

My suggestion is hibiclense. Put some on a washcloth add water, hold in the pit for 1/2-1 hour if u see improvements continue. Bottle says not to but soak n hour 1/2-1 cup to a tub of water. Im guessing this is n infection that theres probably n antibitic for but the mention of boils, ive run into n infection n for reasons cant get to a doctor to even find out whats going on but the hibiclense surfacewise helped phenominally especially after soaking. Scars started healing too, surgery scar started to look way better fast. They're are other antimicrobials meant for daily use that aren't as potent and good too

Tell my doctors there's treatments. I get a ration of antibiotics (oral and topical) for when they get so bad I can't function. Does nothing when I just have random open wounds... I'm not bitter❤

H.S. is so unknown to the world, it took over 30 years to get diagnosed, ingrown hairs may bring on a flare up but you are going to get them anyway, don't sugarcoat it.
