HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 апр 2023
- The art of heading out for a ride and stealing other cyclists KOM’s. So when Campagnolo recently launched the Hyperon wheelset, one which they say has the magic ratio for all-round performance, Alex wanted to know if it's possible to steal 3 KOMS in a day? It's time to go hunting...with a bit of help!

Do you ever make an effort to go for KOM/QOM's? 👑 Let us know in the comments! 👇
I have two in Manchester and Graeme McDonald has the others , he’s the Manchester monster 👺
Rarely. I would never go out on a ride specifically to try for one, but if it's on the route and I'm feeling good I might give it a go.
It would be fun to see KOM/QOM hunting or other challenges on this piece of cycling history ruclips.net/video/FuMf6-9ZsJo/видео.html.
Já e muito! O Mais esforçado e duro que foi, Foi em uma subida de 800m com 6% de inclinação com 35kmh de média.
Yes I do, I use them as max effort intervals for training. On a good day can pick up several in one ride
Please reward Feather for his hard work with a holiday in California - and whilst he's there he can try to take some of Gaimon's KOM's, would love to see Phil's reaction.
That would be an episode definitely worth watching
At least some of Gaimon's KOMs involve a bit more endurance, don't they?
please!
YES! Would be so EPIC!
This would be pretty awesome!
Always pleasure to watch an episode with Mr. Andrew Feather! :)
Laughed at the end, nice job Andrew - (I jiggled on the "reactions" :) )
Feather always smashes it! Can you think of any other challenges we should be setting him? 👀
Great video again with Andrew Feather! Absolute beast on the bike. I know it's a sponsored video though, but I cannot comprehend why an amateur cyclists, no matter how skilled, can rationalise spending $4000 on a set of wheels. Or am I the only one who thinks like this?
$4k is a lot. However I will say I spent close to $2k on some carbon wheels and I love them. I could see spending more on a set if I only had one bike.
Agree..Nope..Nope..Nope.
If you’re on a $20k bike, why not? 🤡
@@fuzzykiller Or have a small PP., why not? 🤣
Wealthy people are amateurs, too ... and hobbies are never rational. I spent 1k on a set of wheels on an entry-level carbon bike, that's possibly a more disproportionate investment than putting these on a fancy super bike, so why not, if you can afford it and it makes you happy? It for sure keeps Campy alive.
Andrew is a machine!
I appreciated the power overlay GCN team 👍
Love the editing with showing the watts of power during the ride.
those power numbers 👀
Andrew Feather is a cheat code 😂
Check out Graeme McDonald of Manchester for the true KOMs
Hahaha what game would you like to use Andrew Feather cheat code in? 😂
£3200 for a pair of wheels! That's more than I paid for my Canyon with Ultegra Di2 with perfectly good DT Swiss wheels. Mental.
Always fun watching Andrew. Think I'll pass on the wheels though - they cost significantly more than my whole bike 🫠
but think of all the KOMs you could get!!
Yeah, $4000.USD for wheels is crazy. I'll buy the new Winspace wheels for $1200. and have plenty left over for post ride beer.
Old Wells Road into a headwind - what an incredible time! Well done Andrew! I’ve had that one since 2017 (before Ollie 😉) and had a massive tailwind 😂. You smashed it! 💪👏
Are you still on the leaderboard? 👀
@@gcn In 2nd place now - just above Ollie as he equalled my time 😉
@@JonColes-su7xp That's good going 💪
I actually laughed out loud when Alex said who had the first KOM.
My jaw actually dropped. Why they gotta do my boy like that lmao
Si better buck up his ideas 😂
@@gcn "Revenge" episode time. 🤣
Fun watch guys! Special thanks to Mr. Feather for being such a good sport. Wonderful touch showing the power numbers. So amazing!
It's hard for us to watch those powers 🫣
I love the reactions and i assume the non-filmed were the same 🤣🤣
Nice work with the power overlay.
Feather's power meter is the best joke in british cycling (it over-reads)
I'd be rubbish on any set of wheels, no matter how expensive they may be (and this one is very expensive; I wouldn't pay that much for an entire bike). Hats off to Andrew and a big "thank you" for being such a good sport.
The power overlay is cool. Just one number that matters! The last bit is a fun bonus - si and Ollie’s reactions 😂
It's always a treat to watch our very own twig, Andrew Feather!
So glad GCN added this beast to their team! Great job Andrew!
Agreed
He is the true horse power behind the GCN team
Just got back from the bank, apparently you can't take out a mortgage to buy some bike wheels.
But you can take out a loan, so no excuse!
I hope "mystery" ride was flagged as an obvious e-bike/car ride. 11 KOMs in the one and only ride. Yeah, nothing suspicious about that.....
Ollies reaction was the best!!! LOL!!!
Thanks for keeping up the great content! Just had my first ever "new bike day" experienced as such (only childrens bikes before) but I am out of the game with a fractured rib so I sit at home looking at my new bike. Good thing is it does not get dirty standing there in my room. Always look on the brigt side, i guess ^^ Cant wait to get going though.
I love the power overlay. Wish the UCI would do this for race broadcasting
Been trying for years to get a KOM, made the top 5, not giving up!
Keep pushing 🙌 Is the KOM on a local climb? 👀
I do think that Campagnolo still makes the coolest stuff.
Andrew is a full on legend , still can't believe the 2.06 seconds he got up streatly hill , he's a beast 👏👏👏👏👏 would love to see a video of him trying to take that kom from himself 🤣
Feather‘s style is really special. On these flat climbs, out of the saddle can‘t be the fastest method, especially into a headwind. Maybe you can borrow Remco for another attempt and see if the same is possible with 200W less.
Yes, special as in special ed. someone needs to get him to the wind tunnel so he has a better grasp of when he needs to be concerned with aero. The last climb, not so much. But the first two, he absolutely should not have been standing up like that.
Great video! Priceless !
Love the Campagnolo Wheels! It's why I bought a LightBicycle AR wheelset for way less than a quarter of the price.
I looked up Bloomfield Road segment and seems Andrew Feather is the KOM holder now
Andrew Feather vs. Phil Gaimon the ultimate battle for the KOM
Nope - that would be Vinegaard vs Remco (not Pog)
I'd love Andrew Feather to do the Mt. Fuji Hill climb event in Japan. I think it is 24km at an average of 5%. It's held in early June.
Too long for him! The pros would rinse him.
Sounds like a perfect feather challenge 👀
Exit left Ollie Bridgewood heading out to get his KOM back x
Great video, my power + that of a grand tour pro would struggle to get those numbers. Mans a machine
Bear mountain in NY , 5 mile climb..is very nice climbing
"and Oliver Bridgewood simply isn't good enough..."
LOLLLLLL 😂🤣
We love you Oli! You are speed!
Awesome vid guys wow the feather was flying 🤩👍 love my campagnolo wheels I use the shamal carbon and aluminium brilliant 🏅🚴❤️🔥
The reaction clips were very enjoyable. Fun video!
Ollie’s reaction 🤣👏🏼
Couple of GCN+ film ideas - 1) How many of the Top100 climbs can Feather get... 2) Send him to LA to troll Phil Gaimon.
Phil vs Feather! That could get ugly 👀
I'm too old in my mid forties to keep up with the KOM smashing youngsters, but I've still got one KOM that has remained unbroken for 10 years.
Andrew Feather is an absolute beast!!! His new name will be the K1000... The Kominator
Loved Oli's reaction!! Brilliant 😂
We have one person in my area that takes KOM's and it turns out he's on an ebike but doesn't say he is, but still we all know now.
LOLS love the reactions of Oli and Simon
Not 100% sure, but have all GCN videos been in the cold and/or wet for about three years now?
Alex, good job sabotaging the KOMs of Dr. Bridgewood and Si 🤣✌. Love the virtual countdown beeps
Lets see if they can respond 👀
His sustained power look like my sprint on zwift lol
When is feather presenting? I think it's time!
I've loved all of my Campagnolo wheels, I might need to start saving
11:04 "I literally can't wait" ... waits.
Love taking a KOM. As a solo rider it is difficult in my area of rolling hills here in NC where most of the KOMs are held "officially" by an individual but the leader board clearly reveals a team time trial effort was needed to nab it. These team achievements, while laudable, are absolutely not on the same level as a solo effort. Maybe too many challenges but I'd really like to see Strava add a separate category for them and keep the KOM boards cleaner in this respect. (Maybe add heart rate and power number requirements while they're at it!)
Solo KOMs are always a little bit harder 🙌 Do you ever go out with a team to try and steal KOMs?
@@gcn Sadly, not as often as I'd like. Most cyclists prefer early morning rides (I do too) to beat the heat/traffic but our morning routine these days doesn't really permit me the luxury. Still looking for a group that likes a 1-2pm start time!
That is true professionalism riding in that weather.
Kudos to Mr Feathers. 💪🏼🚴🏻♂️
If there's one thing I've learned from all the GCN videos, it's that the worst cycling weather in the world exists right there, in England. I guess this adds context to all the street murders in the Sherlock Holms tales. The weather there just has everyone so damn mad, they were murdering each other in the fog.
"Oh friend, friend - my cycling friend" .... and here you are being the mastermind of Ollie's undoing 😂
Love Campagnolo
Sorry Si, it wasn’t me. But looking at his well-groomed quiff, I suggest Dr Ollie has stolen everyone’s combs.😊
Andy blesses his little cotton aero socks daily that he lives in the same place as a media giant and so can make some easy cash.
I've got so much respect for this gentleman! I would challenge Mr. Feather to snatch the KOM on my doorstep: the Mur de Milon-la-Chapelle (France, 30 km SW of Paris) which was climbed twice on the 2023 Paris-Nice, with Pogacar already leading the pack! A short yet hellishly steep climb (with a maximum gradient of 22% according to my Garmin Edge).
Wheels are nice! Andrew Feather is awesome! But can we please talk about Ollie's GMBN mug?
Mystery E-Bike Rider .... LOL!
I'd love the vids with Andrew !!
It would be interesting to see the Feather taking KOM's on an entry level bike. Something that costs about £1500-£2000.
I don't think it would be that interesting. Feather took 20 seconds and more from the previous KOMs and a bike in that price range shouldn't hold him back significantly.
The person behind this account takes KOM's on a £220 second hand giant defy claris (and has also raced cat1 1 on it ) ... so Feather needs a shopping bike
Send Mr Feather to Mount Baldy in California. Was used in the Tour of California multiple times. Or Torrey Pines in San Diego. Happy hunting!
I’m not sure that Simon lost his KOM….he was 2:17…🎉
Andrew is truly a chad among the mad. Absolute strength in those legs.
hilarious ending with si and oli
Please come to North Hill (little baddow hill) in Essex, Chelmsford, Alex Dowsett has held it for years, I think you have that in the locker feather 🎉
I love the fact that Simon Richardson can't even remember where Norton Lane is. This does raise the question: how much should we celebrate the holder of KOM over a segment of road that barely qualifies as a hill? I mean, if a ride is not memorable is it even worthy of a "KOM" award?
Beautiful Campagnolo. Looks so classy compared to Shimano.
Feather, the KOM King! 👑
Graeme McDonald of Manchester is the KOM collector! Absolutely gobbles them up for fun
Arsehole hill segment on Strava over in good old Essex near Chelmsford! Come and get a kom!
Send Andrew to the Dirty Dozen this year in Pittsburgh, PA!
I got top 10 on a segment and that's about the best I will manage. I'd like to beat a time Connor Swift set (obviously not at full gas) on a segment I regularly ride though 😆
Bloody hell. I'm killing myself trying to do those sorts of speeds on the flat, never mind uphill into a headwind !
We feel your pain 😂
Idea for a GCN+ video - Andrew Feather hunts all the KOMs in Simon Warren's 100 Great Climbs (he probably has half of them already), or maybe the top 20. Preferably touring the country in a campervan driven by Conor, gooning around. Perhaps take Ollie too as a benchmark for where a blooming good amateur sits. It'd be good to have more time to talk kit (aero vs. weight depending on gradient), impact of conditions - temperature/rain, and technique (entry speed, hitting the bottom hard, saving a match for a steep bit at the top) etc...
That's a great idea! Could make a great long film for GCN+ 👀If you fancy more Feather action, we have this great Doc 👉 gcn.eu/feather
in 5 years, i had 1 kom..
I really don't care about those though
What i care about is being the local legend :P
There's a few KOM'S here on the Port Hills in Christchurch NZ that would take some beating
I am curious to have Andrew trying these KOMs with some good weather.
We think he would smash his own records 👀
Yes 🙌
Cheddar Gorge!
Was I the only one thinking that for all Andrew's amazing W/Kg, he was almost as aero as a brick up those first two low gradient, high speed climbs? ;)
He loves to climb out the saddle... it clearly works for him! 🙌
Dear Andrew, come and tear up the KOM game here in South Carolina!
andrew in full GCN gear asking who's Si... I didnt know I was getting a mini Gui Ritchi film!
What happened to Quinton's KOM? He didn't upload his with Andrew's? Love how they're just taking away Si' and Ollie's KOM and in terrible conditions, too. Ollie probably planned his ride perfectly - weather, road conditions, tailwind, tires, tire pressure...
Rodney did them dirty having Feather hunt their KOMs
Living in the SW, I do occasionally run across a hill where the KOM is held by Feather, feels like a tiny brush with fame
Hahaha do you ever try and give it a nudge? 👀
I'm in a few clubs on strava, and every time I get a notification from strava, I fear it's one of my KOMs... usually just a club ride invite, but I am stressed for a few seconds every time.
the three ways up butser hill, especially harvesting lane.
Great end to the vid guys😂😂
Shocked there are still KOM’s in England that Mr Feather does not have!
Great video! I loved the wheels, but they are a bit pricey... I noticed that they don't use bladed spokes. Why is that?
Ollie had the most relatable reaction.
Olly goes full Olly. Top bloke.
Ok, no KOMs for us heavier riders. Are there KODs (King of the Descend), too? And wheelsets stable at 100+ km/h?
You guys are like the Miguel Angel "Superman" López of the UK.
Send Andrew for KOM hunt to segment “Řevnice parkoviště- sedlo” near Prague - one of the most anticipated training climbs in the Czech Republic.
What about Burrington Combe?
Burrington Combe is such a nice climb.
Do a video in which Andrew attempts to get all of Si's and Ollie's KOMs
Stunning wheels, beautifully built. Seriously expensive.
Bit like your club, mate (and my afternoon truffles)
