I actually used a Bullet Journal to make my personal and my work planner-- but I do recommend the Hobonichi for anyone looking for a pre-made, printed planner. It's very versatile, customizable, yet minimal. If I didn't have so many blank notebooks, I'd have bought another lol.

4:47 I got my mom the midori dog stand calendar for christmas last year for her to put on the windowsill in the kitchen because it has a tiny footprint and the windowsill isn't very deep and she's *loved* it! When I asked her what she wanted this year she said she's enjoyed looking at it and thinking of me while I've been studying abroad this year and she asked for it again so I ordered her the 2023 version. I'm so excited to give it to her and to hug her again when I get home

Hi Miriam, thank you for a wonderful presentation. I bought a Hobonichi Techo for 2022, but never used it. I think the reason was a combination of three things. First, my employer provides me with free 8.5" X 11" wirebound notebooks, and I just love writing all my project notes for my every day work in these using pencils since the notebooks are of the lowest quality. Since I am a technician, I can scribble page after page of tabular data, prose text, and simple drawings each day. Secondly, I tend not to think of personal projects that could go in my Hobonichi (which is for my personal life) during my workday. Thirdly, when my workday finishes, I'm exhausted. I don't feel much like writing, but I know I should use my Hobonichi and start architecting my own retirement. I will very likely go ahead and buy a 2023 Hobonichi Techo and make myself use it as a planning tool for eventual retirement. Thanks again for a well-designed video.

I used the Kokuyo Jibun for the first time this year and I have to say it’s the first planner I’ve mostly stuck to using all year. It’s a little more structured than the Hobonichi but still fun to customize. Good for people that prefer weekly over daily! 👍🏼

i got a jibun techo 2023, november start so i've only used it a few days. however, i love it. it's very cute and the fact it's all pre-laid out encourages me to use it. i have multiple appointments with counsellors for my mental health a week, so i can block out times when i'll be meeting them. i can also record exactly how much sleep i get, and when and what i eat, which is really important when you struggle with depression and skip meals. if you have a mental illness that makes it hard to use a regular planner, it's really easy to just put "appointment" without filling out the date and time. i highly recommend!

Love your videos! I'm a recovering stationery junkie. I'm using the Hobonichi Cousin (work) and Techo (personal in my purse) for 2023. I used Jibun Techo and DAYs for 2022. I tend to alternate them each year, but may go back to a traveler's notebook in 2024 along with a Midori Hibino if I can get my hands on one!

  • @melaniescribbles

Well, this video definitely couldn't have come at a better time for me! I was looking to find a good planning system for myself: I'm autistic, and tired a lot of planning tools since I have some executive dysfunction on that particular area. I'm an artist and I had been looking for a good idea book. I'm definitely looking into that Kokuyo brand, because some of their notebooks look like they could fit my sort of haphazard style on that one. I tend to just jot down as many details for myself as I can before I can forget the details of what I want to draw, and that's it. It's kind of written down in a way that I can clearly picture the imagine in my head from reading back text alone. Also, soft rings on any ringed notebook really sound my best option on that one: I would have trouble focusing with rings poking my hand over time, so that would take me out of the flow real quick. And I absolutely hate it when ring binding breaks down on me. I don't know how my bags and purses manage to do it, but they WILL eventually destroy any kind of notebook with hard plastic rings. I have the idea that it's because they don't bend along with my bag whenever I put it down for a second, but soft rings actually might. I'm not even that rough with my bags and purses, though.

I am trying 3 different Hobonichi planners (A5 Avec, A6 Avec, and Weeks) for 2023 to see which one I like or if I prefer to have a different planner for different things. This is my first time to use the Hobonichi. The Jibun Techo looks interesting too, but maybe in 2024 I will try one.

I bought the Jibun Techo first kit last year and most of its empty, Being retired, I don't have my career anymore, so my life isn't as busy. It would be a great datebook if I was back at my job. I had tons of meetings & field work to schedule back then, but now not so much.
I need a simpler one for just a few luncheons, doctor appts & family events.

I am using Hobonichi this year, plus the A5 booklet to make some spreads for Getting Things Done method. In chose the cousin because it has weeks, dailies, monthly views, an index, in one book. Plus it is English this year. The extra booklets are great for additional spreads to go with Techo, and makes it kind of like a bullet journal. I have used the JT Weeks and Days the past few years, but got tired of lugging two sets of dairies around for my thesis work. I also have an every day carry Hobonichi Weeks for personal tasks. If I decide I do not like this method, then maybe I will go back to the JT Weeks.

Ill be using a hobonichi for the first time starting december. I have been using the kokuyo techo but found that it dosent fit my lifestile (in my last year of university plus starting a part time) my tasks are minimal and are the same so its boring just marking them down, i end up using my google calendar more ofter for time blocking insted of the techo. Im hoping to incorporate journaling to my hobonichi to try to change how i use planners next year.

I just ordered a Rhodia webplanner in the A6 vertical weekly format. I chose a Rhodia because my main requirement is for fountain pen friendly paper that is thick enough to make ghosting a non-issue. I love the idea of a jibun techo or hobonichi, but the translucency of the paper would bother me, I think.
