Edit: crap! Photoshop crashed 😑 I tried doing the grain/stamp step again but the image became gray instead of crisp black and white. Anyone know why?
SOLVED: press D to reset the foreground and background colours

I had the same problem but i didnt have the b&w selected, only white on white and that was the issue!
