- The Volvo V60 Cross Country was an absolute treat the drive around for the week. We especially liked the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and this newly updated 9" infotainment developed with Google's Android Automotive. Apple Carplay has arrived!

This video was filmed with in-ear, binaural microphones, so if you listen with headphones, it will sound like you're sitting in the driver's seat!

Would you be able to add cabin noise decibel values when you do your highway testing? Specifically the highway fuel efficiency testing, to judge how loud or quite a car is? I feel this will be something that could be valuable in deciding between different cars. Great content on the channel 👍
I've thought about it, and I've tried it before, but it's difficult to standardize it. However, we will take the feedback and consider it for future content. Thanks!
Thank you. Well done and much appreciated.
Didn’t see any info on cars built-in modem and alleged ability to bring WiFi to the car, as stated in owners manual, for USA market. Can this or other ‘23 Volvos be a hotspot for internet, independent of outside WiFi networks?
Is Qobuz available as an app in the Google play store in the Volvo?
Other manufacturers need to take notes. Lots of detailed notes. If you’re going to rely heavily on the infotainment for core functions, it needs to be this responsive, fast, and intuitive.
Agreed. Now to be fair, it took Volvo a few years to get here, but now it's great.
On PHEV like S60 Recharge, can you change drive mode by voice command (hybrid, power, pure, AWD)?? If so, awesome!! If not, that def needs incorporated.
And can you play an album or song from iphone library using voice command. That also would be essential.
I can not have car play full screen on a Volvo 2022 s60.Is it possible?
Please mute the google trigger commands in the video… watching this on my TV was hell… it set my house thermostats to heat the house.
I agree. Every video on RUclips contains the voice commands should beep it.
Nice Review men !, I'm receiving my new XC 60 Ultimate next week. So I was wondering how this new Google and Apple Car Play works, Question: does "Maps" in Apple Carplay also have full screen? (because you showed with Waze, but you don't opened Maps), Thank you.
Do you have an answer? Would be interesting.
Still no app to play files from usb
Do you know if they will update the 2019 Modelles with that software because the hardware is pretty much the same. Or is this exklusiv for the 2023 Volvos?
It will stay on Sensus (un)fortunately.
Hi. A very informative video. I have a question though. I know standard Google Maps from the car's OS are displayed on the gauge cluster. Do Google Maps launched from the Apple Car Play display there as well? If not, is it possible to use built-in Google Maps while still being able to use Apple Car Play? For music, for example - Apple Music app, which has lossless audio streaming
Did you ever get an answer to this question??
I know that Apple Maps launched from Apple Car play display on the main cluster these days, so I expect Google Maps from the phone display there as well. Answer to the second question is almost certainly YES, given how many Volvo reviews I watched. My new XC60 arrives in a month or so and I'll let you know how it really is if I don't forget :P@@50KPL
@@pavlo2692do you have an answer now? I am also interested in this question. Thank you!
@@jatzilom93 Apple Maps and Google maps from *Car Play* do not show up on the main cluster. I'm on AAOS 3.1.9. Also, the play/pause, next/previous song buttons on the steering wheel don't do shit for car play (I'm using Tidal). I tried to download Tidal on to the car's OS itself through Play Store, but the download goes into infinite "Pending" status. So annoying.
@@jatzilom93 RUclips eats comments, apparently :/ Anyway, Apple Maps and Google maps from Car Play do not show up on the main cluster. I'm on AAOS 3.1.9. Some people said Apple Maps will show up if you set a destination, but that I haven't tested. Honestly, the built-in Google Maps satisfy all my needs.
So it has Google play store, but can you download anything (RUclips, Netflix Web radio etc)??
Only adapted apps
how to make read my whatsapp messages? seems like i can only read/respond to whatsapp mezzages on my phone.
And yes, Volvo completely bailed on supporting security updates for their vehicles. My latest security updates are dated the 1st of April 2022. As for the most vulnerable operating system, this is too much.
How about showing how carplay homepage splits? This was just one touch away.....
Is this update available for 2021 xc60?
Different infotainment system in the 2021 version. The Google version started in 2022.
My guy is using WAZE!!! 👌
what is your name i want to use you as a reference in my bachelorthesis
I have had my V60 since late September 2022 and the google system at time of writing is yet to work, in short it is a disaster
I have a 2019 xc40 with sensus and harmon karden. It's in the shop and got a 2023 xc60 loaner with Google. I like my sensus way better
Google voice recognition for navigation is way better than sensus sensus voice is unusable for nav. Can't get addresses right so have to type everything in. But it does always nderstand the voice take me home command
With Google here's what u lose compared to sensus
No equalizer for Harmon kardon
No more drive mode button. Dynamic eco comfort are gone
Cant seem to remove navigation from middle of dash to replace with xm
Less buttons for customizing driver options
And worst of all. After 4 free years you have to pay 20 bucks a month subscription for Google navigation and google services . Sensus is free and free map updates too
New map look is crap, was so much better before the update. Now it fills the square with rough borderds, when before it had no so notable borders and looked so much better and also the UI of the dashboard been animated once switched between two modes (with map and without)
I’m not a fan of voice control.
If driving solo I’m listening to podcasts. Speaking to the car interrupts then audio., so it’s distracting. Also, if on the highway or a roughly surfaced road the road noise makes hearing the car’s response difficult.
If driving with someone then speaking to the car interrupts the conversation. I have to wait for a break in conversation. Plus it’s just awkward with another person present.
Then don't use voice control on any car and phone if it's that annoying whilst driving?
@@clodqbabi I don’t.
Dont worry, Volvo wagons are not going anywhere. They are by far the most popular in Europe
I used to have a Volvo v60 but swapped it for an electric Mazda. I miss my Volvo so much, but there’s no way I can afford the new electric Volvos. Got to be honest though, the infotainment system was its biggest weakness. Their layout and the fact that they charged extra for smartphone integration was just terrible.
Please tell me you don't have to say "okay google" every time you want to do something.
This is like using a tablet instead of car. I would prefer i drive
I don't know what has happened to critical thinking these days but Volvo's implementation of AAOS is amateurish. Presentation design is shockingly poor and access to car controls while driving is dangerous. For a car company whose USP is safety then Volvo should have been aware of research showing that using the centre console instead of switches is more dangerous than texting using a mobile phone while driving. Volvo's implementation of AAOS lacks functionality and is not stable software, it is more like beta, pre-release software. Volvo's AAOS is not fit for purpose and was not ready to release to the market. The Android app is even more pathetic.
Usp?

It is true
Google assist allows verbal commands that allow access to all of the car functions
Clean the screen next time before you record your review…
Android experience is terrible. Gestures support is awful. The speed of loading is not OK. Everything related to Android is terrible. Navigation through Google Maps drives me crazy.
