  • The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Transitions Partnership Project (ETIPP) is working with the City and Borough of Sitka, Alaska, to select renewable energy sources and involve community members in the energy planning process. In December 2023, ETIPP team members from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the Renewable Energy Alaska Project visited Sitka to finalize the project’s scope of work and engage community members. Sitka is one of 32 communities that have participated in ETIPP, which partners with island and remote communities to strengthen their energy resilience.
