Aquaclear parts are easy to get. That is why they are one of my favorites. I think your tanks always look good!!! I wish I had bought a bunch of parts years ago especially marineland impellers as they breakdown or break... Not sure I would put any petroleum in my aquarium.

Thanks so much Daniel....if we keep taking good care of these Jack may be using them on one of his sons aquariums right....we're gonna start working on this tank soon for Riot and Sonic and the other kids in there and are planning on adding some blue polars down the road if all goes well.....been wanting them for a while and would go pretty well with these other guys.....also more ropes.....we can't get enough of these underwater dragons!

Hey guys! Aquaclear filters are great (the old ones anyway). I haven't bought one in decades. Easy to maintain. One hack I do is to use a 1/2 to 3/4" piece of 1 1/2" PVC pipe between the filter and tank to tilt the bottom out. Prevents any overflow issues.
Great tip! we still have the "tilters" that came with the filters and that works good too, but if we ever lose them we know what to to do, thanks Fishman!
man, wish I saw this vid a month ago, just had to replace the shafts on my 110s. My LFS guys said it was discontinued and I had to buy the whole motor assembly with the shaft. Im going online and ordering some for the future! Thank you!

I get those tiny little bubbles that can almost make the water have a cloudy appearance from my 110s, too, but like you, when I turn them off, the water is totally clear. Wow, that's a big difference in appearance between the old shafts and the new ones! Only had mine for a couple years, but it's really helpful to know how to replace the impeller shaft when that day comes for me. Thanks for the video! 🙂👍👍
the rattling noise creeps up slowly over the years and you don't notice it.....until you do lol....then it's time to change it....we recommend buying back ups ahead of time so you can save money and time when that day comes....it seems like only a few years ago these were 2 to 3 bucks....they are 4 times that no
Food safe is fish safe, generally. Use silicone LUBRICANT or petroleum jelly sparingly on the shaft to reduce noise. Don't confuse silicone lubricant and sealant, obviously. Frankly, it doesn't reduce wear by any significant margin because the slime and detritis that fish produce work well enough as a lubricant. To reduce wear on the impeller shaft, make sure the top of your filter is level. It is often overlooked, but an unlevel filter causes uneven wear in the impeller and shaft, and is a common cause for filter noise.

Been doing this for 45 years now and the older you get so does your aquarium supplies, so you can fix it for 5 bucks as we did or buy a new one for close to 100 as lots of folks do, we tend to be fiers around here.
