  • This video describes a few adjustments I made to my scroll saw to help align the blade. My blade was moving left and right 1/8" or more, after the adjustment, it was about 1/16".

Thank you so much for this video! I had terrible wobble on a brand new saw and after watching this, I found the bottom bolt was very loose. Tightened it and solved my problem!

Thanks for posting this. I have the same issue, which has gotten steadily worse over the past 6 months. Will definitely give this a try.

I have the same problem with my brand new Porter Cable. The big bolt on mine wasn't loose though. I almost think that the eccentric bearing thing that connects the motor to the arm is not balanced. I'm going to return this saw for a new one. Hopefully a new one won't have the same problems. Thanks for making this video!

I have the same problem with mine, wobbling terribly! I'll try your advise. Thank you very much for sharing! I needed this badly because I'm enjoying and doing a lot of projects. I'm sure i'll be inspired to do more projects once the wobble disappear.

Thank you so much for sharing this fix! I've been having the same problems with my Porter-Cable scroll saw that I just got about a month ago. Couldn't figure out why the blade wobbled so much. I'm going to try this fix when I get home, and also re-locate the bottom blade hold-down screw to the right side as you did. I've heard that some people even permanently remove both the left-hand plastic shroud and the dust collection port for easier access to the lower blade holder. (You would think this company would adjust the saw perfectly before shipping it out of the factory, but that's not the case.)

Mine was making horrible screeching noises and vibrating terribly. I found the lower one very loose. After tightening, it's a new saw. Thank you, I was ready to take it back.

I just recently bought this same saw. This is my first scroll saw, and the last 2 weeks have been a confusing start into the world of scrolling to say the least. I have been trying to find some more general "noob" tutorials because I have no idea what a good setup or properly tuned one would even look/feel/sound like. Mostly I'm having a pretty bad time trying to figure out how to stop breaking blades and not have them dislodge at the other times. I've bought and tried about 6-7 different types but it seems so unstable or too tight with no "middle ground'. My bottom knob was actually on the right unlike yours, that makes me more suspect, in addition to reading in the comments how many have these odd random factory shipped problems or bad assembly issues out of the box. Hope they aren't drinking too much during lunch at the Porter Cable plant! I'll keep trying to stumble my way thru this, and now check some of the adjustments I didn't know existed, so for that I thank you, sir. I just hope I don't ultimately find I've bought a poorly made product.

I have this same saw. Had it close to 2 years now. It's been a pretty good saw right out of the box until recently. Every now and then the saw slows down by itself as if the rpm knob is being turned down. It will do it for a few seconds then get back up to full speed. I always keep the speed knob at high speed. Tonight I was using it and the blade broke,, which I don't care how many years you've been scrolling, it still scare the hell out of you...anyway, after i replaced the blade I couldn't get the tension right. The top lever that folds down to lock the tension into place used to be pointing directly at me, now it seems that it points to the 4:00 position. Might be time to step up to a Delta.
