Binaural audio is not virtual surround, it uses the frequency difference that occurs naturally when we listen to sounds. When a sound is to your right, the left ear picks up a different frequency (due to distance) and that allows the brain to determine the position of the sound. Binaural audio produces that same effect, which is why it is recorded with a model that is basically 2 microphones inside a head with ears. The effect only works with headphones, not with Dolby Atmos, 5.1 or any external speakers.

Only out of respect for Ninja Theory as it seems you guys are really putting your heart and soul into this. Mad respect, hope the game goes great, its a shame that microsoft wont know how tf to handle its reception either way.

I think the sound design and music of Hellblade 1 was very good. Today I bought Hellblade 2. Now I will feel it.
I'm really looking forward to the sound with Dolby Atmos and HS, so I don't have to go on sick leave because of the great sound :D

If you’re playing on PC sure (Idk if Xbox connects with them) you literally just need any form of headphones so you get the 360° sound experience

Play with headphones in stereo mode - it gives you real 3D sound. I also have 5.1 headphones and it works perfect in stereo mode in Hellblade 1.

It wasn't possible realistic at all. The mixing and mastering was off and sound stage was lacking in the details.
