Ryan, it was so nice to meet you in Dallas. You are such a great leader and have done so much for this great adventure we call reefing! Thank you again for all you do on so many levels.
Josh always looks like he lost a bet and has to sit there for the hour, love him LOL
This is absolute gold!! Great job guys!
Thanks !
Thank you for posting this so much! I missed it at Reef-A-Palooza. Glad I could say hi to Ryan (I was Emylee, the girl with the little blond headed boy). I pretty much rely on the knowledge of your videos for my reef tank, so thank you!
This is one of my favorite BRS episodes.
Love the content Ryan, Josh inspires confidence
Certainly inspired me :)
Thanks for reading and addressing my comment about habitat over cost. I think its the coolest thing you guys are doing. Keep it up!
Really enjoyed these last 2 vids .
I like the honesty and Ryan not plugging stuff he sells .The salt remark got me .I was going to start my tank with some high end salt .Now i wont bother and save myself a few quid .
This was a great talk to listen to live. Thanks for coming out to Reefapalooza
I just want to hear from Josh a little more.
Good discussion as always the only thing that really bugged me was the ticking from timer ⌛ I was listening to the audio rather than watching and that really stood out
I've heard you talk about blades a lot, and how great they are, but I've never heard anyone talk about mounting height for them. What is the most optimal mounting height for blades?
This was great live!
“If switch open” perfect. I got an Adaptive reef sw panel, but it’s just sat there. Time to dust it off
On a new tank with dry rock, do you start kalkwasser immediately, and if not immediately, when should you start? Or is it better to go with two part then convert over to kalk later on?
I think you really underestimate the amount of water an airstone can move. I wouldn't replace powerheads with it in normal operation, but it absolutely keeps a current going in a tank even with moderate air flow rates, especially when it's placed down low (bubbles rising for longer draw more water into the column to circulate it.) Especially if your lights are off, an airstone on a medium setting should be able to keep several square feet of surface are of a tank full of fish and coral alive for days as an emergency backup. I don't think its worth it beyond emergency use and niche applications for lots of reasons, but it really makes an effective and inexpensive backup.
Saw this at reefapalooza it was great but didn’t get to ask the question. I’m also setting up a 360 same dimensions how many sky lights did you put over it ?..
Water changes are more cost effective than expensive equipment to deal with the effects of not doing water changes. Plus the pollution dilution Ryan spoke of.

Bring back Randy
Randy has a new channel and passion. You can watch him here :) ruclips.net/video/XoLt0fKzir8/видео.html
Thank you so much for the info on the channel.
Randy was great. But Thomas and Elliott are also great and can replace Randy.
Thanks, Brs. Love you guys. Always watch and I follow every video.
@Josh: I did a hybrid substrate on my new 5' tank with live rock from my other tank, new special grade sand & half a bag of the old, bigger pieces of TLF calcium reactor media. I placed it in the path of my lowest MP40 (that concept worked) but I also randomly scattered it around for aesthetics. Looked pretty natural & very cool until the algae showed up ... now I've got furry media 🤦🏻♀️ My White Tail that I got from you is a diva and can't be bothered with cleaning the rugs. Not cute 😂
Great content, guys. @Ryan: Your videos are invaluable, keep it up 🎓
@@BRStvI can appreciate your reply to this comment. Especially with the link. Pure class.
Randy kinda lost interest in reef tanks 🤷🏼♂️
90% Ryan 10% Josh
Whereas back then it was
50% Ryan 50% Randy
Not sure about all these Randy comments lol he left long ago for 🔫. Josh is way different but I very much value his advice and feel like he goes more off his gut/lengthy experience while Ryan goes more off the science but also his experience as well. They’re a great combo with a ton of passion for the hobby that I trust!
I’m impatiently waiting to get a bigger house so I can get a bigger tank!
Would really like to see a tutorial on the FIRE setup. Thanks
Does an ozone generator help with toxicity (ie leathers) that we normally use carbon for? Or just water clarity
Josh needs his own channel
I would love to see yall compare methods against a natural reefer..results, length of cure, necessity of trace elements...
reefs outside the african east coast (such as zanzibar) definitely have a lot of fine sand
I moved into a new house and my PH is always between 7.6-8.05
My old house PH was 8.1-8.45,
Any suggestions?
Where was the tank in your old home? Away from the family? Keep a window cracked near the tank for higher PH.
CO2 scrubber on your skimmer.
Try to get a setup where you can do recirculation of the CO2 scrubber and get a float switch
Reef Octo makes them.
Not easy to start a new tank if you live in a country where "Live" rock or sand like "Tampa Bay" is not available :(
I think your missunderstood my comment about coris versus Halichoeres. Coris wrasse and Halichoeres are different genuses. Coris wrasses are much larger. The "yellow coris" wrasse is Halichoeres Chrysus i.e. a Halichoeres wrasse and not a Coris wrasse. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coris_(fish) vs en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halichoeres
I would love to know where you buy DrTims or Microbacter7 for $10 😂
Are any other corals toxic like Zoas that might have polytoxin?
Goniopora toxin.
Palythoa
Fifth like ayyy
Bring back Randy, Josh is too negative
Josh is straight up, no BS!
I like him…I feel he’s just being honest 💯
Ryan is SO long winded. Rarely get a straight up answer from him. 7min in and only 2 questions LOL
Ryan is terrible at answering questions in under one minute.😂
Guy ,with the beard. Comes across extremely arrogant.
