I got the Zancudo free when I bought my custom ESEE 6. I am not a pocket or folding knife person except for my tiny classic Victorinox mini pocket knife (small blade, scissors, file, toothpick, tweezers)I carry in the coin pocket of my jeans & totally ignored the Zancudo. Then one day I finally pulled it out: it's light, comes razor sharp from the factory, well balanced, great locking mechanism, great blade shape for multi-use. On top of that, if you unfortunately have to defend yourself, it is secure in your hands and won't slip as you thrust multiple times. I've used that Zancudo10 times more than I have my ESEE 6. I carry it everyday.
I bought the Zancudo grey scale & stonewashed AUS-8 blade last year in October, I love the utilitarian aesthetics of it with that color combination.
3 years and several knives later and this is still one of my favorites. Love the shape, love the ergos, solid but not heavy and great size for edc'ing. I got the uncoated model for the reasons in your video. I have xl hands and for some reason the handle just fits like a glove.
I carved out where the lock was to get my finger in there and now works great
The mini grip is a much higher quality blade.
The black coating will help some with that.
@gideonstactica....l know this is an older video/thread. But hopefully you will SEE THIS now (in 2017) and respond. I want a folder for when I travel to places out of my own state that might not permit the kind of large folding (tactical) knifes I normally carry (even for EDC). I was thinking of the Rat 2, but this Zancudo seems to have better ergos in the handle and I like the fact that it also has a spear point (better for piercing). Also, these days they produce the Zancudo IN D2. So, I want it even more. HOWEVER, other reviewers have complained that TIP UP position of the POCKET CLIP impedes swift thumb stud deployment because the pocket clip in that position puts pressure on the lock bar. Some have said it is practically insurmountable. That would be a deal breaker for me. QUESTION: WHAT DID YOU DO to have tip up carry...yet enable quick thumb flick deployment??? P.S. I really hope you have the solution, because I can't believe an otherwise perfect knife for my particular niche usage would be rendered unusable by me. THANK YOU for taking the time to answer. Very good blade. I have the Zancudo and Avispa in the D2 versions. They rock but I would have liked to see a flipper on them

This is a wonderful small game folding knife for rabbits and such and as a small carving Jack not for heavy duty carving
Would you recommend the black over stone-wash? Do you think the black coating may help defend against rust?
Did you loosen the pivot?
Mine does not deploy quickly, at all. I'm very disappointed in that aspect of the blade. In fact my thumb is tender from trying to loosen it through use.

OK, my hulking coworker can flick my Zancudo open. It's just me being a wussy I guess.
Just keep playing with it, and it will loosen over time.
Another knife I'd almost certainly buy if only it came in a serrated version.

Looks like a nice pocket knife coming into a very competitive price bracket. One question though, the "perfect blade centering" comments seems not to be backed by the video ruclips.net/video/nTb80oqTs28/видео.htmlm16s The blade actually looks to be all the way against the scale opposite the frame lock. Could you provide more detail?
I have several Rat folders and these Blue Ridge/ESEE folders. None of them have perfect blade centering. They usually come out of box with really good blade centering, but with a very very slight amount of side to side blade play. Once you tighten them just a hair to get that out. The blades are always closer to the locking side. They are still the best knives in this price range, and I like the Rats and ESEEs equally. The Rat model 1 does feel really good in hand, and it's easier to unlock with one hand, but the ESEE Avispa feels decent in hand, it's thinner, and the lock is very secure. Also the ESEEs have milled liners which is a nice touch. I really like them all, and so much in fact I plan on collecting one of every variation.

So far I do! Opens up easy enough for me, even after switching the pocket clip around for tip-down carry. Can't wait to use it more this summer
