My fam has both Mazda 3 and 6. Both fantastic cars. Mazda 6 has Bose Centerpilot (I think that’s what it’s called) so it makes ur radio sound better. Bass can be annoying as it vibrates the door. So if u have coins in the door/ ur leg resting against it it might annoy you. No wireless carplay. No flat surface to mount a phone stand on dashboard. If Mazda 6 is too pricey for u. Mazda 3 is great. Similar experience. But some differences. Smaller, especially rear seats. Middle seat is harder. Stiffer suspension and steering. Salesperson told us Mazda did it to make Mazda 3 more sporty. Mazda 3 also bigger rims. Although, it uses a special tyre which is hard to find. Mazda 3 also has more features like 360 cam. Blind spot cam. Lane keep assist.
Owner of a 2.5L Mazda 6 here. Some downsides: 1. The Soul Red Crystal is beautiful, but any imperfection is glaringly obvious. 2. Short gears. While good for urban driving, when cruising at 90 km/h on the expressway you're doing approx 2k RPM, because only 6 gears. 3. Fairly high fuel consumption. Am averaging about 9.0 L/ 100 km, doing about 50/50 for highway/ urban.
What's also impressive is your review of this car. Some technical info & fuel consumption of the car was informative for potential buyers. Well done Jon!👍
Yes totally agreed it's a will buy. Except that it used to be at around 120k plus. Before the Coe increase. Imo the nearest competition is opel insignia.
My family had the Mazda 8 from 2013 (recently traded in) and it already has walk away lock But it doesn’t work all the time, gotta make sure the person holding the car key is nearby (like right next to it) before the last door is closed in order to activate this feature. If the person holding the key leave before the last door is closed, then it will not lock no matter how much longer we wait
I’m not sure what this version of Mazda 6 in 2022 has that is new, because I test drove one in 2018 (which exterior wise looks like the car in this video), it’s so so only. Other than the soul red which is the best red colour that somehow other car makers are unable to copy, the rest of the features are average. Just don’t expect strong acceleration from standstill. I recalled the initial pickup lacked power despite being a 2 litre engine but the power was only felt around 60-80 km/h and then it pulls away from here, so have to adjust your expectations a bit regarding the initial pickup (not sure if u heard the loud engine sound in the video when floored but I’m ok with the sound but some may not) . Also because of the rear hump and tighter leg room at the back, this car at best sits 2 persons behind comfortably, so don’t expect to haul a family of 5 and enjoy a luxurious ride. Finally, their so called G vector technology, theory is what it says but what I felt in reality going around the roundabout near the airbase route at Ubi when SE asked me to try it, significant body roll felt so I didn’t want to make the SE look bad. If you’re looking for comfortable and stable ride as what Jon mentioned, I think the newer Camry might be a better buy (though I must say did not test the new Camry yet), but if I were shopping in this car segment, perhaps I would rate “Go Try” first and try the new Camry before deciding.
By far the best chassis and handling in class surpassing Camry TNGA by a big margin. Eager to change direction yet stable. However the engine sounds rough and struggles to accelerate hard after 100kmh or uphill - even at full throttle. Gearbox in manual mode is also slowest in class....v v v slow upshift. But Made in Japan - looks good - reliable - fun - cheap. It's still good - they just need better drivetrain that's all.
I'd hold out if I'm looking to get a Mazda or check with Eurokars if they are bringing in a new gen soon?/ I really like the looks of the 11th Gen Civic, better looking in person. But price wise... Not that worth it.
If you want an honest review of this Mazda 6, read this; The engine is sluggish and gearbox isn't as smooth as the Mazda 3 or even a Mazda 2. The size and weight of this vehicle is almost similar to a Camry / A6 / E Class / 5 Series / Opel Insignia. The main difference is the engine....2.0 non turbo and not even hybrid, which means only 160bhp+ / 220nM+. The power is incredibly insufficient to carry the size of this Mazda 6. No doubt the interior / looks is outstanding, but since released in 2018...there haven't been any updates to the engine. This car really needs a turbo or a hybrid version. Even the 2.5 wagon isn't sufficient. For the price, you definitely can consider other options esp the rear legroom.....there are many cars out there with the same or less price range which has a bigger leg room. Even a Seat Leon Mild Hybrid / new Honda Vezel Hybrid would be better choices for a much smoother drive and practicality.
Walk away locking- Aiya my 2010 Renault Megane also have. What I see is that this Mazda 6 is old tech; analogue dials and rotary A/C controls, an auto trans and old platform~probably end of product line case.
i wish this car has more drama... no ventilated seats or wireless android auto/apple carplay... no adaptive cruise control... totally obsolete car.... a camry hybrid would be a much better option imho...

hi bro do you have problems with mazda 3's size? like getting in and out of the car, it being too small for you etc
Owner of a 2.5L Mazda 6 here.

Point 2 and 3 is valid. Needs a 7th gear for highway cruise and FC's not fantastic with stop start traffic

It used to be around 97k fyi. Coe around 30-32k 2018/19.
Early 2021 it was also priced around 100k. Was tempted to get it.
Agree with you. Have always liked how Mazdas drive. The closest “European” drive one can find in a Japanese car. Good quality and often underrated.

When is the dealer going to bring in the Skyactiv-X engine?
Any help please, what is the 2.0 ltr petrol skyativ like regarding MPG ??

No creo que sean dólares lo que él habla, porque ese vehículo en México cuesta unos $400,000.00 pesos MXN aprox
can you review the Toyota Rav 4? Either the petrol only version or the Hybrid.
How is the ride quality and noise insulation of the car
Very decent car
Also, mazda is only one turbo away from being comparable to some of the conti offerings
At least in sg…
Any comments comparing this Mazda 6 and the civic turbo?
I’d go with the civic turbo (the one with the crab shaped tail lights) not the current one which is detuned turbo.
I'd hold out if I'm looking to get a Mazda or check with Eurokars if they are bringing in a new gen soon?/ I really like the looks of the 11th Gen Civic, better looking in person. But price wise... Not that worth it.
I would prefer the Skoda Superb though it's more expensive.
Isn't this the same car as the 2018 model?
If I'm correct, 2018 version only had GVC. The current one comes with GVC+.
Jon, realised you worn a new pair of shoe 👍👍😊😊
Jon, can you use this car for the next will it tapau?
To Cheng San Market and Cooked Food Centre.
Still at 6 speed?
I mean you buy any cvt it technically is just one single gear with simulated gear shifts.
Looks like a 2018 model

Disagree with a fair bit here. The 2.5 NA in the 6 is decent.
Premium Japanese brand…
Is jay going to host other videos? Or hit and run alr? 🤣

Mazda 6 2.0 is underpower, simi powerful sia…
It sounded like this is the perfect car which I don’t think so. No way it is a luxury sedan

Still don't like the gearbox
What's the issue?
