I bought them by mistake, the skins are present and quite unpleasantly hard, making them a product I'll never buy again. Still, they're quite sweet. I prefer, by far, the fresh ones.
This recipe has become one of my favorites to date. I've remade it number of times. I've found no reason to tweek it at all, it's perfect as is.Thank you again for sharing!
I made this today and it is very delicious. I’m not a fan of lentils so substituted rice and had fresh cherry tomatoes from the garden. I cooked in an electric skillet so not to heat up the kitchen. I had to watch it closer and stir it every few minutes so will make it in the oven when the weather cools down. Thanks for the recipe. Love your videos.
Made this recipe with lentils and chicken from my pantry and homemade Ras el Hanout. Couldn't go to the grocery store, so I substituted Balsamic for wine vinegar, frozen peas for tomatoes, and 1/4 cup of raspberry jam for dates. It is delicious. I have enough for 3 more meals, thanks Glen. I will make this again.
Wow! Great recipe! I live just a couple hours from the date farms near Thermal CA and I buy them by the 10 lbs. boxes. So I’m always looking for recipes that incorporate dates. This sounds delicious! It’s now in the rotation. Thank you
This looks really good. Ras el Hanout is the spice mix of all spice mixes. I put it on almost everything I cook. The only other one that comes close is Baharat.
Thanks for this recipe. I'll add it to my rotation. Love the idea of making our own spice mix - you can add/omit to preference. I added some cubed butternut squash to the pan with the onions, garlic & lentils and used white wine vinegar. It was really, really tasty. Probably not the best plan to have the oven on at 400 during a May heatwave, but this will definitely fit the bill on cooler nights.
Looks great, I would think of something else you might consider trying, adding turmeric, replacing lentils with split chickpeas, adding potatoes, making more sauce, and replace vinegar with preserved lemons and green olives. You can serve that on the side of couscous. I know it is completely different but i do think you should do it sometime
since you like lentils and beans ever make cholent. We make it with smoked turkey legs/thigh, smoked hock and a piece of beef (any cut). The beans and lentils are a true mixture the more variety the better. Add a couple of potatoes. We add salt and pepper to taste. Cook in a slow cooker for at least 4 hours. The longer the better. It was a traditional mid to eastern European sabbath meal (put in the back of the backer's oven, over night. No sabbath cooking required).
@Pedro Camacho - From your multiple comments I can tell that you missed the giant full screen message at 0:26 that tells you that the entire recipe and method (all ingredients and method, time, temperature) can be found in the description box and on screen at the end of the video. Perhaps you were to wrapped up in your rapid fire comments to actually pay attention?
@Pedro Camacho Your comment stream on this video is hilarious... apparently you have trouble following along? I clearly say at 2:42 that I am putting in dates. I mention the dates at the point in the recipe where they are added. The dates are also clearly listed in the written recipe in the description box.
@@pato20995 No it is not. The most widely used dried fruits used in traditional cuisine are apricots, peaches and almonds. Mandarines can be used with duck or rabbit, but it belongs to french cuisine. The use of dates in tagines is very marginal.

looks delic, guys! thank you...will try this. I'm going to add raisins.
This really is a method. I have watched you do chicken, rice, and whatever spices, veg, beans, etc. over and over. I love that!

Made this the other night. Outstanding! This is now in my regular meal rotation. Thank you for this recipe.
Awsome, thank you. Finally a food channel without stress and loud music, just calm and relaxing. Enjoyed that very much.
This is one of my favorite recipes. I really love the flavors. I never ate lentils until Glen shared his lentils recipes.
That looks fantastic. You sold me with, "an explosion of flavor".

As soon as I'm done with the one I bought, I make my own Ras el Hanout. Not negotiable.
A fantastic recipe! Adding it to the "Glen and Friends Must Cook List"👍👍

The color of the chicken look tasty..nice recipe glen 😊
Made this last night and it was really good. Made my own Ras El Hanout. It's a great one pot dish, quick and easy
Just made this again - seriously, so good!

THAT LOOKS FRIGIN AMAZING
Love this! Look forward to more pulses recipes. Off to look at the lentil soup recipe...
This looks bloody incredible.
I made it today and its amazing, thank you 😁
Gonna try this one out. I make lentils in a similar way already!
VERY DELICIOUS!!!! Made this today !!! Wow sooo good!
Glen, that looks really good. I like that you made your own spice mix and tossed it in. I bet that really made it pop.
Thanks! I've taken some heat on other platforms because it's 'not authentic'... but it sure tasted great.
@@GlenAndFriendsCooking it's all about making it your own! You even mentioned how each spice mix is different
Very nice!
Nice. And Welcome to Morocco. To test other 100 deferant foods
I’ve seen you use that garlic press numerous times ~ what brand is it? Looks way better than the one I currently use.
Apricots!
Almonds, raisins, chayote, potatoes, carrots... :P
very intriguing. love the accent

Woah. I’ve never seen canned cherry tomatoes here in the U.S.
We don't have them in Australia either. I substituted a punnet of fresh, but thinking any canned tomatoes would do, especially for the juice.
I need to try this but i think some lemon would fit pretty well.
Glen: "I'm not Moroccan"
Me: * is shocked*
Hi Glen love your channel , could you do a general tao recipe ?
Are the lentils from a can of raw
Those were dry lentils from a bag.

I’m sure we will enjoy your recipe.
Delicious dinner shared with my husband…thank you for sharing this recipe and the aroma was wonderful throughout our home.❤️
Glen, you've done the impossible: nearly 500 likes. Not a single vote to the opposition.
If you want lentil recipes, try lentejas con chorizo. :) Is one of my favourite dishes here. ^^
360 likes not one dislike. nice!
I think my lentils are refusing to cook because the instructions are to add the vinegar at the start, not the end?
oven temp ??? time ???

And you could have thrown in cubes of yam if you went without chicken 😊
how bout Algerian food?
And Lebanon :)
I love lentils but my roommates hate them so I dont cook them often. They like the taste of lentils, tasty just dont like what lentils do to me
you call it spice, is that the ras alhount ?????
@Pedro Camacho Yes - I specifically say at 0:13 that the spice mix is ras el hanout
you never mentioned dates till the end. and the camera was too far.

easily substitute eggplant for the chicken
Instead of chicken you could use eggplant for a vegetarian option.
Ras el Hanout isn’t spicy at all.
Why are you using a metal tool on an enamel finish? It makes me cringe. Please use wooden utensils
@Robert Ross - Metal on enamel is fine, the metal doesn't harm the enamel finish at all nor does the sound bother me.
Sorry but ras el hanout is an algerian spice
It is not though 😊
