Never knew he was a musician. Growing up in the time I did, his books were a staple of my childhood. Thanks for the info!

I am glad you enjoyed it. My favorite song by Shel is Green Alligators

Great video on Shel. Man, what a writer! And to think he could have stopped at A Boy Named Sue and still be a called songwriting legend. Thanks for the mention at the beginning!

@Bob Liberatore I am glad you enjoyed it. He could have stopped at the cartoons for playboy or the children's books or the adult ones. I never use this word lightly but the man was a genius!

An interesting read, a very inteteresting and talented man. Someone needed to check the spelling on the captions though, the Christy Minstrels read the Chrity Menstruals. LOL!

That was awesome. And thanks for the shoutout. Every time you mentioned a song, I was transported back to listening to that song. He was such a genius. I recently found out something new about his song Rosalie's Good Eats Cafe, which is probably my favorite of his works. Bobby Bare recorded that song. There were lots of verses and the tune was about eight minute long. I listened to it so much that I could sing the whole thing back in the day. Well, someone recently turned me on to the fact that there were more verses. The Bobby Bare rendition was only about half of what Shel wrote. If you are interested in seeing the complete lyrics, let me know and I'll post the link here.

Please do post the link. I am glad you enjoyed it. He was a very amazing man. If a person only had success in only one of the careers he had they would consider themselves lucky.

'Brenda Lee - Big Four Poster Bed one his first and best. Add "A couple more Years" written with Dennis Locorriere of Dr. Hook fame.

Yes. He wrote or co wrote a lot of great songs. He did a lot of work with Dr. Hook and wrote some of their biggest hits

Shame Silverstein is more well known for his poetry than his songs. The guy was quite a talent to say the least.
