@@atifshafqat80 Hi there! You can find some practice sheets on our site: www.jetpens.com/blog/Free-Downloads-Printables-Coloring-Pages-Cursive-Worksheets-More/pt/484#Cursive%20Worksheets
I don't know why many schools stopped teaching cursive. It is my all-time favorite way of writing. It looks more matured and elegant. Thanks, Jetpens for this amazing video.
I hated cursive in school as a kid (mid-30s now) but now wish that I had embraced it more. Especially now that 95% of what I write is through a keyboard so my handwriting is atrocious. I think it's even more valuable to teach cursive these days for the sake of penmanship since kids no longer have the same opportunity to naturally develop their handwriting like they would have pre-computers.
@ChiliPeppers31 Try to write about what you did on your journey or a funny and a joyful memory you remember on a book with the cursive style this will proof your handwriting and your cursive handwriting If you barely remember anything try to copy some stories you like which could improve your memory at the same time
I can write cursive but I dont like the look as it looks too messy and clustered but ngl I do it at times because I'm to lazy to having to pick up the pen letter by letter, its easier and smoother to write word per word instead.
Cursive was the standard when I was in school, but as I was interested in calligraphy at that time, I changed my handwriting to round hand (another form of script.) Then I had a stroke, and my handwriting went back to maybe like it was when I was 6-8... A lot of patience, I have my round hand back. 😁 Great video!
As a 60 year old I can’t imagine taking class notes in print. (That would take me so long!). We were taught cursive in 3rd grade. After that all assignments were required to be in cursive and in pencil. No pens until high school! Now I am working on making my print letters look neater!
Same here, and I'm also 42, but it's still like that in my country, except that nowadays kids are taught to type as well, but handwriting is still equally important.
@@sanjakosovic I am from Austria, I don't know if its different here but we learned Cursive in 2nd Grade with the help of a book. I am currently 23 and I don't think schools stopped learning cursive here because it is just how handwriting works
@@BiIlGates We learned it in 2nd grade too and used it ever since. Different people have different handwriting, but everyone here in Bosnia learns to hold the pen correctly, exactly the same way, while in other countries I see different and weird hand postures.
I think it would be very nice to have half the discipline our parents had back in the day (60's mostly) for calligraphy and proper, fluid writing. My father has gorgeous and quick handwriting, and his signature is really easy yet very personal. I wish they made us practice with ink more in school. Great video!
Well... she is not wrong. I have met a few 18 years old who didn't learn cursive and my nephew who is 7 is not learning cursive either. I think it's just a matter that more and more schools are dropping cursive but maybe not all of them did yet
@@iancat3934 We were forced to write mini-essays (2nd grade level) entirely in cursive and it got so bad that some of us couldn't even read our own handwriting. Under normal circumstances, most of us (including me) were fairly good at it, but after writing in cursive for more than 10 minutes straight, our hands would just get too tired and it'd literally just be scribbles along a lined paper lol
I learned cursive in grade school, but college note taking ruined my hand writing. One of the tips on good cursive writing was "write slowly," impossible in a classroom where information is being dumped rapid fire. I enjoyed this video and am going to go back and practice my cursive!

Same for me. I had pretty good handwriting (for a child) until I went to high school where most of the stuff it's dumped into the board at the same time the teacher is talking, and not all teachers are understanding, many will wipe the board as soon as they're done talking. Uni was a bit better because we were expected to do our own research & classes were more of starting point but still had the same issue, not all professors and instructors are patient enough to wait until everyone is done writing.
I was a firefighter in the Navy and part of my job was training other personnel on the ship in basic and advanced fire fighting. I would have to sign all their qualifications. One time, the captain told the whole ship that no one was allowed off the ship at our next port if they weren't basic firefighter qualified. My signature was forever altered from that one command. Within like a 3 day span it changed completely and has been that way since. All cursive.
Don't tell my second grade teacher that there is "no set style that you have to follow." That was the only subject I ever got less than an A in before high school. Still I'm so glad I know it because I tell my kids I'm going to break out of the old folks home by passing notes in cursive and driving a manual transmission. LOL
Lol! Same here. I can remember being so crushed in elementary school when I got all A’s except in penmanship. (Also, I’m going to remember your breakout plan!)
I'm only 50 next year, but already working on my break-out-plan too. You girls are giving me great ideas. Keep'em coming! Notes in cursive. Check. Keep manual-driving-skills up to date. Check. Anything else? So when are we doing this? (Remember to reply in cursive so the youngsters can't read it.) Oh, by the way, I'm guessing you are in the USA? Then I'm going to have to get other partners 'cause I' m in RSA. 😂
Lol I went to a religious school up until 2nd grade so we started learning some cursive and I basically taught myself the rest just by practicing. When I went to public school everyone thought I was so cool writing in cursive.
Practice by copying lyrics of your favorite songs or sentimental ones. I'm particularly fond of A Thousand Years. Feels nice to write, and looks nice on journal's dump pages/page breaks too. Also, if you're still learning/new at cursive, it's true that writing at the "just right" font size is best, but once you're comfortable, functional everyday cursive is allowed to be written at any size. I write at small fonts and they're still readable. Well, unless the pen size I use is bigger than 0.5. It's impossible to write small with big pen sizes. Cursive looks nice when written with a relaxed hand.
That is so weird. In Brazil we learn to write in cursive from the start. Teachers don't like if you write in any other style, at least during primary school.
In Brazil i had a history teacher that would write in printed letters and it sort of influenced me into transforming my handwriting to a semi cursive printed handwriting because I thought it was interesting.
My cursive re-learning project has jumped ahead significantly due to your video. I enjoyed it all. I would encourage folks to let go a bit - after they learn the basics. I love handwriting that is unique and even a bit messy! It can be very beautiful and free flowing, and reflective of your personality. So when I receive a letter or card from someone it feels like a very personal gift . No one else could have written it.
I was 5-6 years old when my father taught me cursive. It took me nearly a year to learn it. When I got admitted in Primary School, I used write in cursive. But the teachers complained that they could understand a lot of it so I had to fix my handwriting. same.. even teacher gave me less number for cursive.. so i try to write more understanble for them... now can't write 100% cursive... some letter write normally but cursive style
I grew up with cursive letters since I was younger. 🤔 I remembered when i was in first year of grade school, our teacher taught us how to write in cursive. Eventually we wrote in cursive for all subjects 😂 some teachers were strict about penmanship. However practice makes perfect 😁 just write according to your speed.
My schools never taught us cursive, well- from what I remember, when I try to write in cursive I normally connect as much letters as I can. I want to learn and this helped a lot, I just subscribed and thank you so much

Handwriting/Cursive Writing has changed since i was in school. I see ppl writing capital 'B', 'S' & 'I' a little differently then how I was taught. Same with some lower case letters. I literally had an elective in high school that lasted a semester to learn how to type (QWERTY), how to write business and personal letters and timed tests to increase our speed. What I learned in that class has served me well. Same keyboard, different instrument. 👵🏼
I almost learned cursive in elementary school for a hot second, then completely forgot it because I didn't remember aside from the most basic and obvious bits, and kinda just made my own weird way of writing. Now I wanna learn it, cause I think it'll be useful for high school!
In my country(Brazil)we are taught cursive from a young age and my dad used to make me practice for hours because he wanted me to have a good hand writing,I hated every second of it, but now I see the importance of having a at least readble hand writing, this video may help me to learn tho write like a personand make my dad proud🥲 (this was dark)

I think you are using a more modern style of cursive. A number of your letters are different then traditional cursive forms from the 60's and 70's such as your lowercase b and s. You still write very well and it takes me back to better years.
I learned cursive at school and recently I noticed my handwriting was illegible,so I started to go to cursive, I was rusty at it but when I saw this I applied to my writing and I have the best handwriting in my whole work place😊
Let me tell you a story That is I learned cursive from you then my aunt called me and i was doing pratice of cursive writing she said to show i showed her she said AAAAWWWWWW HOW GOOD IT IS now i am having best handwriting in the whole family❤❤
I have worked with computers since the late 80's so type everything. I write at most one check every few months. I never had good penmanship but just recently rediscovered the use of fountain pens. With that I think I want to start journaling. It is hard enough to organize my thoughts into written word but now I really need to practice my writing skills to make what I write readable. Enjoyed this video. Now to get out there and practice practice practice.
My bestfriend in primary school knew cursive so she taught me and another friend of ours how to write like that. She even gave us "homeworks" to practice if I remember correctly😂 I still remember some bits of how to write in cursive but I would like to be more consistent in it because I have found myself a new passion for writing letters✉️ recently ^-^.
We always had a "cursive writing" class. I always hated it and never really cared about my handwriting. Now that I am a bit older, I realised that my handwriting is not the best. It's not bad, really. But it's kind of inconsistent. I'm pretty self conscious now so yeah. I regret not doing well in that class. I hope that I can improve my handwriting now :]
I'm thirteen and was learning how to write in cursive during 6th grade, but suddenly they stopped teaching us how to do it oddly... thank you for this video! it helps bunches!
Thank you for this video. I learned how to write cursive but this video is helping me brush up on it while I teach my daughters. The second way on doing the e was helpful to me.
Thank god i found this. My school doesnt teach cursive anymore idk why. But we were once tought how to write cursuve in 3rd grade. But in 4th - 5th grade was online classes and they didnt teach cursive. Even when i was in 6th grade. And now im coming to 7th grade in less than a week and the school says that we have to write cursive in every subject. So im learning rn. Also my new teacher seemed strict and was said she was strict so i better practice. I was also practucing cursive like a month ago but i was too busy so ill do it today.
Almost the 80 % of my friends, they don’t know how to write cursive, but I learn to write first in cursive, and when I change of school, I have to learn print letter. I like more cursive, I find it comfortable to write with fountain pen.
As an elderly man I have come to appreciate that the cursive handwriting I have always taken for granted is now considered slightly exotic. As a result, I now take pleasure in writing neatly to take advantage of this modern interest.
That’s really neat, recently I got interested in fountain pens and writing in general. When I was a kid, we still had to learn cursive on school but as soon as you got to a higher grade than preschool not anymore so I pretty much forgotten how to write with cursive, and my print handwriting is not as good to, so thanks for the tips
The smoothest ballpoints I've ever used are Bic Cristal. I haven't found any gel pens that write as smoothly for me, with the exception of a Montblanc gel pen that was perfectly balanced and felt like part of my hand. One refill cost as much as 50 Bic Cristals. Generally, ultra fine pens feel like they're scratchy unless I use glossy or ultra fine-fiber paper.
I am from slovakia and from the first grade we learn cursive however since i started using print in 5th grade i kinda forgot how to write in cursive this was helpfull
I learned how to write cursive in like 3rd or 4th grade then they stopped teaching it and it’s been along time since then so this video definitely helped
Recently, I learning how to write Cursive but with a Print Handwriting touch. I follow how Print Handwriting works and connect the letters! So its a mixture of letters Print, style Cursive.

Very helpful ❤
Almost the 80 % of my friends, they don’t know how to write cursive, but I learn to write first in cursive, and when I change of school, I have to learn print letter. I like more cursive, I find it comfortable to write with fountain pen.
As an elderly man I have come to appreciate that the cursive handwriting I have always taken for granted is now considered slightly exotic. As a result, I now take pleasure in writing neatly to take advantage of this modern interest.
Great tips 🎉
Cool writing
Wow. Some of those letters are very different from what I was taught in school nearly 50 years ago.
I was never taught cursive and now I’m trying to learn before school starts in 3 days
Very helpful thank you

it makes it easy to read and write and thank u for teaching!!!!!!!!!1
That’s really neat, recently I got interested in fountain pens and writing in general. When I was a kid, we still had to learn cursive on school but as soon as you got to a higher grade than preschool not anymore so I pretty much forgotten how to write with cursive, and my print handwriting is not as good to, so thanks for the tips
Your handwriting is very wonderful.✍️😊🙏
Thanks doing this for a love letter hope she appreciates it 🙏🏼
i like this video but i think i'll keep my loopy handwriting, even if it's harder to read, the loops are the most fun part for me to write 🤣
Same, I love the loops.
Yeah they just go woooo 😂😂😂
The smoothest ballpoints I've ever used are Bic Cristal. I haven't found any gel pens that write as smoothly for me, with the exception of a Montblanc gel pen that was perfectly balanced and felt like part of my hand. One refill cost as much as 50 Bic Cristals. Generally, ultra fine pens feel like they're scratchy unless I use glossy or ultra fine-fiber paper.
I looooooooove this.
Thank you!
😊I learned so much thanks for the video❤
This is a wonderful video! Thank you! 💕
