- Onsdag 30. Desember 2020, gikk et stort kvikkleireskred kl. 04.00 i et boligområde på Ask i Gjerdrum kommune. Opptakene som er vist i denne videoen ble tatt rundt klokka 10.00 samme dag av Ørjan Nerland på NGI.
NGI sendte skredeksperter til området og har siden da vurdert situasjonen fortløpende og bistått nødetatene og kommunen i videre vurderinger av området.
Kvikkleireskredet er sett på som ett av de største skredene i Norge i moderne tid.
Dersom ikke annet er oppgitt, eier Norges Geotekniske Institutt (NGI) rettighetene til alle filmene publisert på NGIs RUclips-kanal. Filmene kan benyttes fritt til redaksjonell bruk med kreditering, men ikke til videresalg, reklameformål eller annen kommersiell bruk.

Wednesday 30 December 2020, a major quick clay landslide occurred in a residential area around 04.00 AM. The footage shown in this video was shot around 10.00 AM the same day by Ørjan Nerland at NGI.
NGI sent landslide experts on quick clay to Gjerdrum municipalty and has continuously been assessing the situation assisting the emergency services and the municipality.
The landslide is seen as the biggest landslide occurrence in Norway in modern times.
Unless otherwise stated, the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) owns the rights to all videos posted on NGI's RUclips channel. The videos can be used freely for editorial use with credit, but not for resale, advertising purposes or other commercial use.

The scale of it blows my mind. I knew it was big, but this was huge. So glad I live on ground that can't turn to liquid in an instant. Can't even imagine waking up to something like this. Great job by the rescuers, even saving people's pets.
I live only a few minutes away from this location, and it hurts to see all the damages caused to the people who live there. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families 🙏❤

And to add to the nightmare, that whole area, all that flatland is unsafe. Did you see how randomly the quick clay formed? Year after year underground water chip away the salt from the quick clay. And all it takes some random disturbance to trigger huge chain reaction.
Most curious. Such a large amount of land to lose cohesion that way. Must have been terrifying.

I lived in this area for a while about 7 years ago due to my job. Now I am sad and at the same time shocked about this tragedy 😢The human being believes to be able to change the nature alone by his intelligence in order to reshape this afterwards artificially and to repopulate. This is a mistake! Nature has fought back How long will these new houses stand on NYSTULIA and VIERVANGEN? 3 to 4 years 🤔 For all those affected, I would like to express my condolences in the warmest possible form🙏✝

okay so this is 2020: Day 367. This nightmare never ends.
Norway is just plagued by that clay. It seems to be everywhere, needs little slope to flow, and can start moving at the slightest disturbance.
If the area is dangerous, who issued the building permit? After the June slip, why weren’t the residents evacuated? Human failure!

We see the ones remaining in the aftermath of this particular event, those not on "safer places" (for this occurrence) are sadly elsewhere now. That farm house? (at 07:44) sitting now on the precipice, below it in the shattered area are a building and a shed it seems
that belonged nearby. But, yes, I suppose the earlier constructions were on flatter extents above and below the steeper areas and those hilly parts may have been used as grazing land and woodlot.
