- This song, called "Свяще́нная война́ (Svyashchénnaya voyná)" in Russian, is a popular song of the Great Patriotic War (World War 2) in Russia. it was written in 1941, during Operation Barbarossa. This song is one of the most popular songs of the war.

well that is another Soviet/ruZZian propaganda victory aswell. This song is Ukrainian, it was sang as early as in 1919 by people of Ukrainian People's Republic - oficial, recognised by world's countries statehood that was sooner overrun by soviet ruZZian forces, newly independent Poland and very partially by Romania. This song was literally stolen from Ukraine (just as much other things in ruZZian culture) and just interpreted to soviet narrative instead of nationalistic Ukrainian one. Check out the original 1919 UKRAINIAN, NOT STOLEN song in 2 versions:
