I stumbled on your RUclips videos this Christmas holidays and since then I have been hooked. You have a gift to explain materials in a simple and easy to understand. Your students are so lucky to have you as their teacher.
Now I know when to visit Japan by watching this video. Usually, I don’t write comments where the world can see but I can’t resist not to as way to express my gratitude. I wish you and your family a New Year full of inspirations and peace.

Excellent! I have American Japanese family living in Japan and have had confusing time remembering all the primary festivals and celebrations and meanings. Your explanations were great and very helpful. My grandchildren will appreciate that their American grandmother is now better informed about their culture and traditions. Thank you again.

9:47 I didn't realize the "crickets are annoying" mindset, but now that I recall many of my conversations they were mentioned in, people really tend to dislike them. It's a shame.
Maybe it's just me as a Hungarian, but riding out to the Great Plain on a summer evening and watching the full moon rise while the crickets sing is a very serene feeling.

Thank you so much for this very informative video! It’s a great summary of all the festivals.✨ I learned so much! Before this, I watched your Japanese Table Manners video. I learned a handful of new things from that one, too!
If it’s okay, I’d like to request a video more about tableware and utensils in a Japanese home, and more table manners practiced at home. Some of the things I wonder about: when setting the table, are hashioki supposed to be uniform for all chopsticks? Are the wooden soup bowls supposed to be all the same design for the whole family(and guests), or can they be different like the rice bowls? Do the rice bowls for guests have a uniform design like how chopsticks for guests are uniform design?
I often wonder about little details like that.☺️ if I list all my questions, my comment will be even longer than it already is.😂

I love the needlework---- honoring needles? did i get that right? I knit, crochet, sew, embroider and make lace, even weave a little.. Love all kinds of Needlework. Definitely thank the needles! I'm watching this Feb 11, 2024, so it just past by. I love the theme of gratitude that is woven into so many of your festivals. Thank you, I really enjoy learning about your culture and civilization.

Thank you for this explanation! So many festivals, strengthening bonds within families and to nature. No wonder Japan is the strong country it is!
I found the 3,5,7 celebration moving as children died early on both sides of my family, ca 1920s, so this would still be something within a family's memory.

I would be very curious to know what’s the general consensus in Japan about coffee. I’m from Spain and it’s so enriching to learn both, the differences and similarities between our cultures, specially how the Mediterranean diet can share some similarities with Japanese diet. hahah i love the anime references demon slayer is easily one of my favorite anime of all time. Its so cool that japan has so many non religious traditions. I always think Germany has very little tradition and the ones we have are religious so if you dont follow the church/ christianity there kind of are no traditions at all except for new years and the ones you created yourself. It always makes me sad to see that so many traditions are only created or kept alive here to promote consumerism and buying way too much. So this video made me really hopeful and happy that there are countries that actually have non religious traditions that are not just invented to make money. Thanks for putting in the work and creating such a nice and informative video c:
