Yet, I literally hiked a mountain a few weeks ago because I was having so much fun and had no symptoms!! You are absolutely right. im in exactly the same boat and have been for a few years. very recently, i discovered i have a fear of stress because it can bring on symptoms! it was right there in front of me for years!
      time stress and unexpectedly being 'blindsided' by other people especially.
      Are you like me in that you can, with enough hindsight always figure out how you contributed to a relapse? My most recent one has lasted 5 weeks -longest in years! because i put too much time pressure on myself to finish pre-study with view to starting a course in march XD The course has practical placements, so i want to get the theory under my belt n solid so id only need to focus on practical skills and social aspects. I was studying every day for 3 weeks, no rest, helping mum with her horse stable mucking out 2x weekly cos she has bad back, was doing REALLY well, driving etc feeling 'adult' n final straw was mum taking me to see 2 of her clients and the hyper-excited joy and enthusiasm i felt in the conversations with them tipped me over XD

      @@tanyawieczorek6603 im still in the 'relapse', experiencing MECFS symptoms iv not experienced for 4+years, like nausea from coffee XD Brainfog is the worst n emotionally im 4/5 content-positive, but im having my down moments where i wonder 'is this as good as it gets' 'i need a plan B'.
      What i didnt mention is that last feb i had surgery and the post-op ward staff were abusive and the surgery also failed, so im due for 2nd op. i had an appt last week, so its been on my mind a bit, plus contraceptive pill transition might be messing me up.
      Ive decided that i shouldnt expect myself to bounce back to june/july level until after the 2nd op, cos even though im not consciously thinking about it, the traumatic exp i had last feb are in the background.
      so im going to focus on socialising in VR
      i have alot of 'hangups' i guess re socialising from before i had MECFS, lots of toxic people n i didnt help myself XD
      Only time i felt i blossomed socially was MMORPG gaming, so ill be doing the VR version as a stepping stone to real world socialising, also joining my local ME association monthly meet-ups when i can drive again (brainfog is stopping me atm, i dont feel safe enough)
      Sadly all VR versions of MMORPG genre games are in 'early release' stage, so most socialising is on discord via typing, but its more interaction than i was doing XD
      My discipline has also lapsed re sleep, yoga, meditation, gratitude diary, so that wont be helping hehe! but understandable cos of the frequency of lower mood sabotaging. I AM keeping up with everything else though, including paleo-keto diet last few weeks, so i might also be dealing with 'keto flu' :D and i know i CAN and WILL get back to last summer level of activity again after the 2nd op which is during spring 2025

    Raelen, I truly believe I might have fully recovered! I am at least a true 95%. I have just completed a 3 day 2 bedroom full house move basically all by myself and there's no crash. I just feel very tired at the end of the day (like a normal healthy person!!) I have no issue being upright, I have no intense pain, my vision is clear. It didn't all happen overnight, but my ability rapidly improved once I reached those small periods symptom free upright. Overjoyed to say the least.
    I am forever grateful to you for sharing your content, it helped me thru the 2 month long bedrest crashes when I would start to lose faith. I always believed I would recover, I made the sacrifices, I let myself be bored, I suffered every day but kept a smile and gratitude and noticed glimmers. I did it 💖
    I hope everyone here finds their path with the most ease possible.

      A few months ago I really noticed that shift from absolute fatigue to general tiredness, that was exciting!
      Anyone reading this, you can do it too. You just have to reset the malfunction in your NS danger threat assessor. Overflow it with safety, optimism, faith, trust - keep pouring until it's so watered down it's no longer in the cup.

    I’m still finding my way through my journey and have found your videos very helpful in helping me to find my way forwards Raelen.
    I understand how fear can have a negative impact, but I think it may be too abstract a jump to digest that fear itself is the causing the condition to sustain. It makes most sense to me to explain the cause and fuel of CFS/ME to be stress, or poor/comprised/overwhelmed stress response. It could well be said that stress is caused by fear, but there are also viral, physical, exertion and biological stresses at play - so it would be easier to understand and digest it in the context of stress - otherwise someone approaching this with less understanding (and looking for that quick fix) might think it was all in their head which I know was not your intention given all your other great videos.
    I appreciate you know far more about this than myself but hope you understand my point, and really appreciate the knowledge base you have amassed.

    Hi Raelan, I have been watching your videos for a couple of months now. I have CFS & Fibromyalgia. As per my nutritionist, Karen Hurd, they are caused by adrenal fatigue. This is why we can’t tolerate caffeine. I could not begin to recover until I quit it (156 days & counting) I have a lot of stiffness, too, which I recently discovered is because fascia, which covers the entire body and is responsible for movement, gets damaged by high cortisol. So I am doing fascia release, too. My point is: it sounds like what everyone is suffering from is adrenal fatigue, leaky gut (which I also had & healed with GAPS intro diet) and fascia damage-all caused by stress (MANY forms of stress-one of mine was dietary insufficiency). I’ve come to believe that recovery is a MULTI faceted process-diet, exercise, stress management. In that order too! It’s been quite a journey but God is healing me and leading me. Thank you for all you do!

    • @kim-ys2fs
      @kim-ys2fs 4 месяца назад

      with me/cfs the adrenal fatigue gets kicked off by the autonomic nervous system being in dyautonomia. I too had to fix diet, i did paleo-keto with AIP. Regards body pain, i too recognised very similar to you, so i did deep tissue massage, then i did cranial-sacral osteo. then i did alexander technique. That took me from 2014-2020. Since then, during lockdowns, i was scared to do such treatments and i started with qi gong and gentle walks, now im doing yoga when im not having a relapse. but to start with, coming from being completely bedbound and unable to talk, think or speak for 90% of my waking day, doing activities to release the fascia tension/stress was to much for my body to handle.
      Im now able to tolerate 2 weak mugs of coffee each morning and eat paleo and yeah, my path has also been diet-posture-exercise-stress management is ongoing hehe just had a revelation that im scared of stress, esp time stress

    • @goolash9991
      @goolash9991 4 месяца назад

      @@kim-ys2fs Wow, I am so sorry you had to go through that nightmare! I was never bedridden, and I thank God for that. I am able to do the fascia release (called Block Therapy) but it is extremely painful. I am seeing some positive results but it does take a long time.
      There’s no way I’m ever putting that drug caffeine into my body again. It did sooo much damage, never again. Caffeine, since it raises cortisol, also damages the fascia; so does dehydration. Caffeine is an extreme diuretic. Now that I don’t drink it, I pee half as much as I used to even though I still drink the same amount of water. Withdrawing from it was hell for months. The depression it causes is insane. Caffeine is the devil!

    Your analogy of the fire alarms and our reactions to symptoms was GENIUS. As I get beyond a symptom, my brain comes up with a new one. The one I'm working on now is a real doozy & the whole fire alarm and learning to take it less and less seriously really hit the mark for me. And your closing comments about rapid recovery being the exception, and struggling yet still recovering, and having doubts and it's not that we'll one day BE okay, but we actually ARE okay. LOL That last one is profound. Thank you so much for all you do.

      I know that feeling! As the fatigue of CFS/ME began to lessen and I was going out more successfully, my crocodile brain began throwing everything at me but the kitchen sink! Hot flashes, roving sensations, even occasional numbness which is rare for me. I was leaving where it had felt safe and exploring new directions - and as people often do in such situations, my brain seemed to be shouting "Change back!" But as I held my course and remained calm, and gently mocked "Croco Pops" with affection instead of frustration or fear, often the sensations faded away. Best of luck, and thanks Raelan!

    This was absolutely my experience, i very lucky to only have symptoms for 2 years, and thankfully meditation and rest really really helped. I remember the intense fear I had at the time, made worse by going down RUclips rabbit hole of all devastating medical cases/ severe mscfs, I was absolutely terrified that that was my future. Once I stopped focusing on what MIGHT happen, things really improved. I never actually linked it before, except believing it was some kind of mind body interaction, so now looking back it makes perfect sense to me! Thank you!

I've been doing the same thing personally for the last 25 years and never carried medical insurance. I'm starting on this self-healing coach path now and I'm really excited about it. It will be specializing in neural disorders, like essential tremor, Dystonia, Parkinson's. I have a slightly different approach in that I also focus on beliefs, and shadow content but with the don't react to your symptoms method as a crucial corner stone. I agreed with every word you spoke here. Congrats on being a self healing angel and uplifting the vibrations of collective and pointing them back to their own power to self-heal. This is only the second video I watched of yours and I love your content. Great to know you're out there. I'll reach out to you when I am up and running. Well Done...Well Done! 😎😎

I was resisting however this weekend my best friend came to stay: lots of time was spent sitting, laughing, chatting, not much sleep (insomnia), she left after 3 days and I'm good today 😁. If I were truly ill I'd be in PEM. I've been pacing, practice mindfulness etc which all help but I know now what you say is the truth.

I thought, okay how can I possibly be more committed to recovery (that seems impossible!). Looking back and now with the help of Raelan’s channel, I realize that I came to an acceptance of symptoms, I stopped the boom and bust so, my brain could use this symptom less and therefore less fear too. I also gave my body more time in the parasympathetic no doubt and therefore more healing time for the body to do its work. It is working and it was so positive to see that. Now, I am using these strategies for all symptoms and to solve this fear based puzzle

      It can be like a ptsd of the nervous system. We can have an initial starter event/illness and our body gets stuck in the ‘we are sick’ response. So maybe not emotional fear response but a haywire nervous system response. Which we can still work with to calm it down.

      @@taragunn9400 I've tried the calming the nervous system approach and it does nothing for PEM. Many others comment on this also. My primary symptoms are cold/flu like. When I’ve been around someone who appears sick, even when they have known allergies, how do I know when my symptoms flair up of I actually am sick or expressing a functional illness response? I don’t want to dismiss the possibility I may be actually sick, and therefore contagious, but then again I don’t want to be feeding into a fear response either. Irene Lyon is someone who often mentions this. This has also been my experience with brain retraining. Sometimes it's true that the retaining helps to rewire faulty associations, but not sure it helps everyone. I think there must be a balance between the two philosophies. What are yorur thoughts on this?
