Hey Spriice, I play a lot of ootd. I would recommend trying out a more aggressive 1tc build in that matchup. Ootd typically wants to get an uncontested castle rush, grab relics, and then go fast imperial for swabia. Their economy is actually very poor until swabia so if you force them to spend resources on units and then outmass them with counters you will do well because anything you kill costs twice as much and takes twice as long to resupply. And I would leave a note for yourself to completely wall off the moment ootd hits castle because knight raids are always coming. Also, because their military units count as 2 population you can split your army and attack on 2 sides. Its really hard for ootd to fight in 2 places at once because of how few units they end up having. Good match tho. You'll do better in the next one!
Hey ash, those are some amazing points thank you. I especially like noting how poor their eco can be before they get Swabia and about it being difficult to split forces. It's weird cause I know all these things but end up forgetting them once I'm in game and focussing on other things. Thanks for reminding me and I'll definitely try a more aggressive route next time I'm up against OOTD. Cheers! 🫡
I watched this match on your profile a week or so ago and remember how devastating that Knight was in your woodline. He was stabbing up vils for nearly a minute! One guilded naughty boi.
When I read this first I thought ''oh no had I already uploaded this video?!'' but then realised you meant on my AoE4 in-game profile right? haha I went back after this match to watch the replay and was HORRIFIED when I saw what that knight did to all my vills 😭
@@Spriice Haha yeah. I added you the other week. We need to team up and do some 2v2s! Especially with the new patch... buffs to Abbasid and my civ too 🐘
he had a mixed bag of units but was a bit lopsided in hand cannon so your best bet would be something like spear horsemen mango but yeah like you said he pretty much got the big edge on that cav raid on your woodline.
So disappointing to miss that attack for so long, it did SO much damage. Perhaps if I was more patient I could have taken the game longer, but I think I just wanted out of this match ahaha Cheers for the comment Chris! 🫡
23:54 - Knights is not so fast, cuz your camel and lancer in group, if you delete them from group it will have 1.88 speed, if not, all groups movement will be on the lowest in group, like 1.66 for lancer or camel (I dont really remember the camel speed). That's why players dont add siege in the same group with cavalry and infantry
ah yeah, great spot. For sure I need to look out for mixing the cavalry, I tend to forget they can all have different movement speeds. Thanks for the comment, very helpful! 🫡
Question: I’ve noticed you pretty much always play as Abbasid. I’m in Plat 1 and I only play French and English. Do you think it’s counter productive to learn more civs or should I just get really good at those 2?
I can only speak from my perspective, but I find it much easier to focus on 1 or 2 civs. You get to learn the pros and cons much better, plus it's easier to focus on the basics when you're not trying to also think about learning a different civ at the same time. I would say, if you're bored of either of your main civs, that's a good time to switch it up, but otherwise, sticking to and getting better with your main civs is always preferred.
