At this day in age we pay 70$-100$ for bigger title games and so many times we get let down. Yet, this one is 25$ and looks fantastic. Might not be perfect but we must protect these type of games to keep developers making games that are worth our money.
I'm having a blast with it. Gameplay, exploration and progression systems are all good not great... but as a total package I think it's more than worth the asking price
@mattgreim5778 That's what I was thinking. Honestly, for the asking price I think there's a lot of fun here. Well, atleast that's how it looks like lol
@@KingGamezz87 There is dude! I'm at the part where you can go one of 3 different ways and I'm happy with the way I went for progression AND gameplay reasons. I'm not saying this is some perfect masterpiece, but for what it is, solid 8/10
as the saying goes "it's fine". I tried the demo and my impression was "not enough to stand out from the thousand other metroidvania" now for a pet peeve of mine: accessibility. We should stop calling easy mode "accessibility". While technically correct (the worst kind of correct) this term should be used for things like color blind mode or font size and things like that.
The Metroidvania genre is becoming far too bloated in the indie scene, so these games need to do more than just fit the genre if they want to stand out.
I agree with the "stand out" part, but the tone sounds so negative and I disagree with the implication that more MVs are a bad thing. This sounds more like advice to the developers specifically on marketing, not to consumers who are just happy to have another game to play. Game good. I don't honestly care how much a game "stands out" as long as it's enjoyable to play. Besides, I'd rather have "too many" Metroidvanias than not enough of them.
I agree with you and will thumbs up as soon as I finish writing this. In my opinion, Dead Cells and say... Everything included at present to play with Dead Cells, was the last great Metroidvania genre game in my personal opinion. With that being said, I'd love to see each person whom has replied to @tamaskalem1492 's comment above as to their top 5 metroidvania games on any platform/system released from 2012 - present. Thank you!
I've seen others say this, but I just don't see it, at least nowhere near the amount of metroidvanias that came from this year alone in comparison to the past few years of rogue games.
You are doing the work of the goddess, I really needed a fleshed out review for this game as it's in my cart right now and couldn't decide if I wanted game or not.
The indie game that blew me away the most so far i think is halls of torment. I usually hate survivor games but this one really fogured it out, you got quests and sick armors and all sorts of modifierers that make the game never boring
I played a demo yesterday for a game that's coming out this week I think, Voidwrought. Liked the demo. I'll look into this one too but the whole "hot girl robot" trope is just boring to me at this point.
Voidwrought looks sick! Like if Hollowknight and Biomorph had a bad ass baby. But I digress... I love the tiny woman vs big male brutes tropes in movies ( if you havent seen The Shadow Strays..wow) im opposite of you. i love tiny female bad ass fembots taking on huge monster bosses in metrovania games.
Originally I wasn't cause whatever trailer I had seen was short and used not so great clips but seeing your vid and all you showed I'll give it a fair shake thanks for another great vid it seems like ferngulie the metroidvania
Have you ever heard about Albatroz? Beatutiful Brazilian game coming out on November 1st? If you are interested, I have a PC key for you show to your audience

Not a big fan of side scrollers with these cartoon graphics, it doesn't look good to me, janky awkward movements, not to mention that the characters drawings on the dialogues are AI generated. Make it pixel art FFS
"Metroidvania" is exactly what "Souls-like" is: copycat games with zero innovation or ideas. I really don't understand how fans of both genres can play the same exact style of game, over and over and over
Would you prefer AAA crap or what? These styles work and are fun, they set me off to go on an adventure, explore and grow stronger. If there were more soulslikes and metroidvanias, they would be the only games I'd play. Almost already are.
@ I don’t know what happened. I threw in the towel before finding out. Some of the mechanics turned into such a chore toward the end. I enjoyed so much about this game but not enough to complete it. Especially as a person who likes to 💯.
A half-decent Metroidvania is a GREAT game by general standards. I've heard enough. I wanna play.
i see a pair of greats. i instabuy

@mattgreim5778 That sounds really cool brotha! Might have to give it a shot?

I love me some metroidvanias. I just finished Tales of Kenzera the other day and I'm 75% through Kong Survivor Instinct.
How's Kong Survivor Instinct? The Game Worth It Or Not? What Would You Rate It? Thank You In Advance.
Yeah how is kong? It looks like a poorly made cashgrab that's clunky to play
@d00mnoodle24 It's pretty solid. Pretty easy platinum, too. I thought it was worth the $25.

We have so many metroidvanias released, feels like each year we have 10 new ones. It's hard to keep track or pay attention to one.
I never heard of this game til I came across this video. I would like to play.
Did you mention how long did it take you to beat the game? For the record I have not listened to the video since Im at work now.
Yes it is mentioned in the video!
8-10hrs
@@abu_cymbal Thanks

Will you be checking out AWAKEN - Astral Blade? Let us know in the comments below!

How many hours to beat ?
Kong metroidvania will be review😂?
😂Kong: Survivor Instinct
Nah. Reminds me too much of Hunter X. Seems like it'd be passable, but I kinda don't want passable if I can afford something more exciting.
You should review ICEY

Looks like vigil the longest night
I take it the PS4 version was cancelled?
The art-styles don't fit, cause the splash images are made with machine learning. Sadly so, looks horrible by comparison imho.
Best metroivanias in 2024:
Nine Sols
Animal Well
Prince of Persia
... What else ?
Voidwrougth, biomorph, crypt custodian
This or afterimage?
Afterimage for sure. Awaken is still good but afterimage is top tier.
@@erik2311 I like this much better, but I don't think I ever really finished Afterimage.. Need to give that another shot
Nine sols
The answer is no
Is that AI art?? Not a fan of that.
Yep, it is. :/
>Hot female android protagonist swordfights robots and mutants in a post-apocalyptic place
>Astral Blade
Someone was trying to surf on the Stellar Blade hype
> Stellar Chain has entered the chat
Im pretty sure that 99 percent of metrovanias are someone with sword in post apocalyptic setting 😂
I'll pass. Looks lame. Just another cookie cutter metroidvania that pales in comparison to the best in the genre.
Which is the best in the genre?!?!
Did you like Cookie Cutter?
Ugliest animations

Ultros had me almost till the end. Which is very sad. It had so much potential.
What happaned at the end?
